A position is available as a Senior Counsel, APAC Employment Law. Working across the Asia Pacific region with a focus on Australia, while also supporting 8 other countries including China and Japan, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive advice on all aspects of employment and industrial relations law.

 

You will support and collaborate with partners across Human Resources (HR) (Business Partners, Employee Relations, Industrial Relations, Payroll, Talent, Compensation, Total Rewards and Global Mobility), Environmental Health and Safety, Enterprise Risk, Ethics & Compliance, and business professionals across the regional CSL business units.

 

Reporting to the Global Head, Labour & Employment Law you will

  • Provide succinct and direct employment law advice that is strategic, business-focussed, risk-conscious, compliant and actionable

  • Be a subject matter expert and provide direct legal guidance on all Australian employment law matters including employment disputes, restructures, investigations, terminations and compliance matters 

  • Work with Industrial Relations to provide advice in relation to enterprise agreement strategy and negotiations, union consultation and collective disputes  

  • Manage and assess employment law items across APAC, utilising local internal legal support where available

  • Oversee outside counsel, and represent company where appropriate, in litigation and agency matters

Your skills and experience

  • LLB or JD from an Australian university

  • Admission to practise in Victoria, Australia

  • Demonstrated experience in Australian Employment law matters, in-house experience desirable

  • Experience in conducting or overseeing complex employment related items and working effectively within a matrixed organisational structure
