This position serves as second-in-command, support the Cost Manager and functioning as an assistant manager. This position will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the costing process. The position serves as a mentor, trainer, and expert resource – building skill sets for and transferring knowledge to other cost staff members and hospital clients. This professional will lead complex projects, assess staff and client relationships, and provide technical support and guidance.
Essential Job Functions:
- Leads, mentors, trains and develops cost staff members in the understanding of the cost model.
Demonstrates expert understanding and knowledge of the decision support product and cost accounting.
Performs ongoing maintenance of the decision support tool, applying cost standards, validating RVU’s and setting up indirect costing structure.
Ensures accuracy of the DS cost data by completing audits and reconciliations of all data elements.
Shares results of audits and reconciliations with hospital clients, supporting the accuracy of the Decision Support system.
Train and mentor hospital personnel in establishing RVU’s to maintain the level of accuracy of the costing process.
Develops reports to support analysis for hospital operations.
Maintains a clear line of communication with assigned client hospitals and provides excellent customer service.
Qualifications:
- Required Minimum Education: 4 yr/bachelor's degree, Specialty/Major - Accounting or Related Field
- Preferred Education: Grad Degree/(Masters), Specialty/Major - MBA, MHA, MS Decisions Science or master related to healthcare
Licensure/Certification Preferred:
- CPA, CMA, CHFP
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum Years and Type of Experience - 5 - 7
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Comprehends general business concepts. Oral communication skills, communicated to varied audience – adjust detail and language to meet audience needs. Math ability, reasoning ability and advanced computer skills. Advanced Excel skills and a strong understanding of relational database structure.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred
- Past supervisory experience preferred.
