Role Overview:
As part of our commitment to safety and operational excellence, Huntsman has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Process Safety Engineer to join our Corporate Process Safety team in Europe. This role plays a key part in supporting our manufacturing sites across the EAME region and occasionally globally, helping to advance process safety standards, drive continuous improvement, and strengthen our process safety culture.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about process safety, brings strong technical expertise, and thrives in a collaborative, cross-functional environment. In this role, you will report directly to the EAME Process Safety Manager and be accountable for process safety studies & assessments, training, and program enhancement across the region.
Role Responsibilities:
As a (Senior) Corporate Process Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Providing technical support for process safety studies, including PHA, LOPA, and SIL assessments
When required leading and participating in incident investigations and process safety audits
Developing and delivering training on process safety methodologies
Supporting the development and implementation of corporate process safety procedures and metrics
Mentoring associates and leading cross-functional safety networks
Representing Huntsman in industry forums and benchmarking initiatives
Driving continuous improvement in process safety across the EAME region
Experience and Competencies:
What we are looking for:
Engineering degree with 5+ years of experience in chemical engineering, process/equipment design, or operations
Strong expertise in process safety, risk identification, and protection system design
Fluency in English (written and verbal); additional languages like French, German, Spanish or Hungarian are highly advantageous
Ability to lead PHA, LOPA, and SIL Target Assessment studies
Ideally additional experience in one or more engineering competencies of SIL design, pressure relief sizing, dispersion modeling, Fire Risk assessment, Human Factor Assessment, facility siting, and Quantified Risk Assessments
Familiarity with Apollo or HFACs methodologies for incident investigation
Proficiency in process engineering software (fluid flow and physical properties)
Strong communication, stakeholder influence, and self-management skills
Willingness to travel 50% across Europe, with occasional global travel
