Salary Range: $106,000 - $125,000

The Senior Corporate Accountant plays a key role in supporting the monthly close process, ensuring the accurate and timely reconciliation of accounts and preparation of financial reports. This position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial data, administering the Subcontractor Default Insurance (SubGuard) program, and overseeing a variety of corporate accounting functions. The Senior Corporate Accountant collaborates with cross-functional teams, drives process improvements, provides guidance and support to accounting staff, and ensures compliance with company policies, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and industry standards. 


Responsibilities / Essential Functions 
  • Support the timely and accurate execution of Corporate Accounting processes and procedures. 
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist with implementation. 
  • Participate in the employee performance review process. 
  • Train, mentor, and provide ongoing support to Corporate Accountants and Assistant Corporate Accountants. 
  • Prepare month-end account reconciliations and supporting schedules. 
  • Analyze general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies. 
  • Prepare and process general ledger reclassification entries. 
  • Coordinate and execute activities associated with the monthly close process. 
  • Conduct subcontractor prequalification reviews and evaluations for the SubGuard program. 
  • Establish and report maximum contract values for subcontractors and maintain the SubGuard database. 
  • Manage subcontractor files, renewals, and compliance documentation. 
  • Coordinate reporting and compliance requirements with the company's risk management firm. 
  • Ensure timely assignment of job numbers and accurate project setup within the accounting system. 
  • Track and report on the status of owner contract processing. 
  • Maintain accurate and organized owner contract files and documentation. 
  • Enter cash receipts and ensure proper application of payments. 
  • Process daily deposits and support cash management activities. 
  • Monitor compliance with sales and use tax and payroll tax requirements. 
  • Prepare and file sales and use tax and payroll tax returns in accordance with applicable regulations. 
  • Ensure accounting processes and procedures comply with company policies and GAAP. 
  • Participate in the Internal Audit Program and provide support during audits. 
  • Maintain organized documentation and records for all assigned functions. 
  • Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Experience  
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related field preferred. 
  • Minimum of three years of construction accounting experience. 
  • Experience leading, training, or mentoring accounting staff preferred. 
  • Proficiency with Timberline and other accounting software. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, internal controls, and GAAP. 

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business management
