Job Description:

**NY location preferred**

MKTG Sports + Entertainment is looking for a Senior Copywriter, Creative Strategy to bring ideas to life at the intersection of sports, culture, and brand storytelling. The ideal candidate is equal parts creative thinker and strategic communicator — a writer who can craft bold narratives, distill complex insights, and shape campaigns that resonate across audiences and platforms.
We have a host of clients ranging from B2B to B2C, power brands to power brands in the making, so flexibility of style (conceptually, and with the written word) is a must. We are looking for someone who is not just a skilled writer but a natural researcher, knowledgeable about culture, and gets excited by organizing data to create a compelling story. You must be a credible C-level presenter in new business pursuits and have a writing ability that allows you to build impactful internal decks as well as global brand campaigns. Agency experience is preferred. This role reports to the Head of Creative Strategy.

  • Develop narratives, manifestos, taglines, messaging frameworks, and strategic concepts that evolve and scale across campaigns, channels, and touchpoints.
  • Author and define brand playbooks (voice, tone, creative applications) to ensure campaigns are clear, consistent, and scalable.
  • Contribute to new business pursuits with compelling storytelling, C-level presentations, and impactful pitch materials.
  • Collaborate with internal teams in brainstorms and concept development, providing imaginative, strategically grounded ideas.
  • Translate cultural trends that drive audience behavior and affect the way that brands communicate – always living at the intersection of sports, brands, culture, and creativity.
  • Develop thought leadership and audience insights to share with internal teams and publish to agency external marketing channels.
  • Create and own company quarterly trend report & client category specific trend reports.
Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with 6+ years’ experience in copywriting, preferred with a mix of sports brands, agency and in-house experience.

  • Relevant experience in sports, entertainment and/or lifestyle brands is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to write across tones — from bold and emotional to clear and instructional - and to turn complex ideas into clear, powerful and engaging copy.
  • Ability to synthesize data drawn from both quantitative and qualitative methods, and use both approaches to formulate hunches, validate hypotheses, and produce high quality, unique insights.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication (written and verbal), and presentation skills with ability to link insights to strategy and translate complex ideas into simple and intuitive communications.
  • Strong leadership skills and a history of partnering with senior clients to achieve business and marketing goals.
  • Able to fly at multiple altitudes, excelling at high-level conceptual strategy work and the nitty-gritty of strategic implementation.

Working with us

We’re an agency born of fanatics…fans of sports (yes, even pickleball).

Fans of music (we sing in the shower).

Fans of data (we’re proud nerds).

Fans of art (from exhibitions to film).

Fans of culture (this is huge). And that means we put it all in for what we love, truly understanding what fans need, want, feel, hate and love about the brands and properties we lead.

We’re led by our core values which focus on collaboration, community, inspiring change, pursuing excellence, and celebrating bravery – all of which are foundational to our culture and how we treat each other and our clients.

We’re a community where you are free to be you, where good work gets rewarded, and you are truly energized by the team around you. It’s more than just ‘warm & fuzzies’ – happy humans are vital to our commercial success. And together, we make magic.

Inclusion and Diversity

We’re proud to be different and that starts with our people. To us, representation means more than just diversity, it means true equity. We won’t define people by their race, gender, sexual-orientation, age or disability. Individuality is what makes us great, we want everyone to bring their full self to work and create something amazing. We are constantly evaluating our practices and policies, creating and sustaining pathways to promotion, and intentional in how we create and distribute resources, giving people what they need to grow. That’s what we care about. So, whether you’re joining us, or looking to move to a different part of the business, we work hard to make sure we create opportunities for everyone. We offer team member support through flexible working arrangements and schedules that promote work/life balance along with progressive parental and caregiver programs as well as opportunities to give back to the community as part of our global social responsibility efforts.

If you have any reasonable adjustment needs arising from a disability or medical condition to fully participate in the recruitment process, please discuss this with our recruitment teams.
