Role Overview
Vanderlande is looking for a Senior Controls Engineer to support live, mission-critical automation systems for customers across North America. In this role, you will provide third-level controls support, resolve complex PLC-related issues, and contribute to continuous system and service improvements.
This position combines advanced technical troubleshooting, customer interaction, and occasional on-site support, with a strong focus on system reliability and customer satisfaction.
What You’ll Do
- Provide third-level support for complex PLC, controls, and automation incidents
- Troubleshoot live systems using Rockwell Automation PLC platforms (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, GuardLogix) with Studio 5000 / RSLogix
- Diagnose issues related to PLC logic, HMI/SCADA, safety systems, industrial networks, and I/O
- Perform structured root-cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions
- Support customers remotely via secure VPN connections
- Travel to customer sites across North America to perform:
- Software deployments and upgrades
- System health checks
- Performance improvements and corrective actions
- Create and maintain technical documentation and troubleshooting guides
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve tools, processes, and service delivery
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience in industrial automation or controls support
- Strong hands-on experience with Rockwell Automation PLCs and Studio 5000
- Experience with industrial networks such as EtherNet/IP (ControlNet / DeviceNet is a plus)
- Ability to troubleshoot live production systems in a structured and calm manner
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
- Willingness to participate in a compensated on-call / stand-by rotation
