Job Description Summary

AAM is searching for a Senior Controls Engineer to join our team. This position will be based out of our Fraser location in Fraser, MI.

As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will lead the design, testing, installation, and maintenance of large-scale electronic equipment or machinery for use in manufacturing. Applications are complex, requiring cross-disciplinary integration and wide application of concepts.

Job Description

• Design and recommend the control system architecture, products, components, and applications used in manufacturing processes; identify and resolve system integration and interface issues.

• Evaluate new and emerging manufacturing and control technologies, adapting into specifications as appropriate.

• Confirm control system functionality, including appropriate safety compliance, by designing and/or executing test procedures.

• Prepare and/or reviews electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls drawings; collaborates with related engineering teams to evaluate components, materials, and suppliers.

• Ensure integrity of process and build data collection.

• Keep equipment operating by performing periodic audits; troubleshooting breakdowns; requesting supplies; defining and reviewing preventive maintenance plans; calling for repairs; and implementing process improvements.

• Maintain project documents using approved methodology, tools, and templates.

• Works on multiple, complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance.

• All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education

• Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics or related field from accredited college/university or Trade School

• 5+ years experience in PLC/HMI/Vision systems.
