Senior Controls Engineer, Technical Operations – EMEA

Role Summary

The Senior Controls Engineer is the technical authority for controls and monitoring systems across STACK Infrastructure’s EMEA portfolio.

Working across operational facilities and new developments, you will help define standards, improve reliability and optimise the performance of critical controls platforms including BMS, SCADA, EMS, EPMS and DCIM systems.

Partnering with Operations, Engineering, Delivery and IT/OT teams, you will influence how mission-critical facilities are designed, commissioned and operated, ensuring robust monitoring, effective alarm management and long-term operational resilience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and expert guidance on controls and monitoring systems across the EMEA portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain controls standards, integration principles, alarming philosophies and resilience requirements aligned to STACK operational objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, automation, system optimization and alarm quality.
  • Review controls designs, technical submissions, commissioning documentation and integration strategies to ensure compliance with operational requirements.
  • Support commissioning, operational acceptance and handover activities for new facilities, expansions and major upgrades.
  • Define and assure controls acceptance criteria, testing requirements and evidence standards, ensuring smooth transition into live operations.
  • Provide technical support and escalation guidance during major incidents, helping to drive high-quality root cause analysis and long-term corrective actions.
  • Maintain governance standards for controls systems including backups, version control, testing, validation and change management.
  • Partner with vendors, consultants and internal stakeholders to ensure consistent delivery and operational performance across the portfolio.

What You’ll Bring

  • Demonstrated experience working with controls, BMS or SCADA systems within mission-critical environments, ideally data centres.
  • Experience reviewing mechanical systems designs within critical environments.
  • Strong understanding of controls architecture, integration principles, networking and operational technologies.
  • Experience supporting design reviews, commissioning, operational acceptance and technical governance activities.
  • Experience improving controls performance, alarm quality and overall system reliability.
  • Understanding of OT security principles and remote access governance concepts.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a structured approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple disciplines.
  • Coaching and mentoring mindset with a passion for developing technical capability within operational teams.
  • Degree, HND/HNC or equivalent in Controls Engineering, Automation, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Strong written and verbal English language skills.
  • Experience working across multiple European markets is preferred.

La fascia retributiva indicata rappresenta il range previsto per il ruolo. La retribuzione sarà determinata in modo equo e trasparente all'interno di tale fascia, sulla base dell'esperienza professionale, delle competenze e delle qualifiche del candidato.


  • Salary Range (Gross Annual Salary - RAL): €56.250 - €71.250 + bonus.
  • Contract type: Italian CCNL Commerce (Commercio - Terziario, Distribuzione e Servizi)

The compensation range shown reflects the expected salary range for this position. Final compensation will be determined fairly and transparently within this range, based on the candidate's professional experience, skills and qualifications.
