At AECOM, we are currently recruiting for a Senior Contracts Manager-Rail projects to join our established infrastrrcuture team in our Dublin office.

The Contracts Manager reports directly to the Delivery Director and is responsible for managing all pre- and post-contract requirements, ensuring that contractual obligations are adhered to and fulfilled in accordance with the requirements of awarded contracts and Work Orders (call-off contracts).

Pre-contract, the role holder will work closely with the Procurement and Legal teams, providing support to the Delivery Directors in the engagement of Contractors and/or Consultants in accordance with established procedures and the agreed procurement strategy.

Post-contract, the Contracts Manager will be responsible for the management and administration of contracts from award through to completion, including take-over of the works and final assessment. The role will also support the review and acceptance of subcontractors and their associated documentation in accordance with the relevant contractual requirements.

The Contracts Manager will oversee the monitoring of Contractor and/or Consultant performance against contractually agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and will contribute to the management and resolution of contractual disputes, as required.

  • Understand and align with the organisation’s Contract Management standards, ensuring compliance with the selected Terms and Conditions within the applicable contract suite (e.g. NEC) and programme requirements.
  • Ensure full compliance with Contract Management standards and contractual Terms and Conditions throughout the execution of contract administration activities, including the identification, management and reporting of any areas or instances of non-compliance.
  • Manage commercial relationships and ways of working with Contractors and/or Consultants to promote effective collaboration and continuous improvement in the delivery of works and services.
  • Review draft contracts to ensure they are fit for purpose and appropriately tailored to the requirements of the relevant project, coordinating input from specialist advisors where required, including legal, technical and financial advisors.
  • Lead contractual negotiations and provide guidance to the Project Manager and/or Services Manager and Programme Director, as required.
  • Review and approve the appointment of subcontractors and associated documentation in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Certify payments, including the assessment of Defined Costs for NEC Option C and Option E contracts.
  • Audit Contractor and/or Consultant accounts to ensure that costs are accurately captured, appropriately allocated and in accordance with the contract.
  • Review Contractor and/or Consultant forecasts and assess the applicable pain share or gain share due to the Contractor under NEC Option C and Option D contracts.
  • Undertake delay damages calculations where required and ensure that any contractual entitlements are accurately assessed and administered.
  • Establish category and/or programme-level Contract Management strategies, and review and approve individual contract management strategies.
  • Set targets for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) within Incentive Schedules for NEC contracts and monitor and review Contractor performance against agreed targets.
  • Develop and maintain the Key Performance Indicator library for the categories and/or programmes for which the role has accountability.
  • Review and approve Contractor and/or Consultant performance evaluations and, where appropriate, oversee the development and implementation of Contractor and/or Consultant Performance Improvement Plans.

We are seeking a highly experienced professional with a strong background in our core infrastructure markets, including aviation.

As the successful candidate, you will bring the following qualifications and experience:

  • Senior-level experience: 10+ years’ overall experience, including a minimum of 5 years’ specialist experience in contract management, contract administration and NEC contracts.
  • Proven track record of managing contracts on high-value metro rail, major infrastructure or similarly complex projects.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in monitoring and managing Contractor and/or Consultant performance against contractual requirements and agreed performance measures.
  • Significant experience in the management, assessment and resolution of contractual claims.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing Contractor and/or Consultant performance management frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Contractor and/or Consultant organisations, with proven experience in developing and maintaining KPI libraries.
  • Extensive experience in the administration and management of contracts, with particular expertise in the NEC suite of contracts.
