The Importance of the Role

A Senior Research Assistant will support preclinical studies through the execution of functional outcomes that are designed to test drug efficacy and characterize animal models. Assistants will assist the Animal Outcomes Staff in performing functional outcomes for multiple studies. The Senior Research Assistant will need to perform significant rodent handling.

The Opportunity to Make a Difference

  • Executes functional outcomes including open-field assessment, rotarod, grip strength, gait analysis, plethysmography, ECG, physiology, etc. 

  • Supports Animal Outcomes staff in setting up and performing outcomes, including QCing and inputting data.

  • Analyze outcomes data.

  • Assist in ordering and stocking inventory.

  • Perform routine equipment cleaning and maintenance.

  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Study Protocols.

  • Document with strict adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP)

  • Humanely and confidently handling rodents.

More about You

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree, scientific field preferred.

  • Passionate about animal welfare.

  • Experience in laboratory animal handling and restraint techniques.

  • Ability to work as part of a team with organizational skills.

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and ability to follow verbal instructions.

  • Strong understanding and ability to follow laboratory methods and SOPs .

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

This position requires significant animal handling and contact with substances that may result in sensitization to allergens or exacerbate pre-existing allergies. In light of this, Sarepta requests that individuals not apply for this position who have known allergies to mice, rats, or animal dander generally. Individuals with allergies to any of the previously named species of animals may be deemed unsuitable for this job.
