OUR TEAM

As part of our VTS business, our PRV team is primarily focused on the design, manufacture, delivery and support of protected mobility vehicles on a global scale. We are very proud of everything we do in support of both the Bushmaster and Hawkei platforms as we all work together towards our purpose. We have an excellent opportunity to join us as a Senior Contract Manager based in our Eagle Farm, Brisbane office. In this role, you will be responsible for providing legal and contract management expertise within the framework of bids and projects carried out by companies and entities within a given area of responsibility, enabling these companies and entities to fulfil their rights and obligations in relation to specific commitments: bids, contracts, complex subcontracts, partnerships. You will carry out activities related to one or more complex and/or large-scale projects and will be involved in the preparation of bids and the negotiation of contracts, as well as in monitoring the execution of these projects.

This role is part of the Legal, Contracts, and Compliance (LC&C) function in Thales Australia and will operate within the Protected Vehicles business.

Working at our Brisbane, Eagle Farm office, on Jagera and Turrbul Land, some of your responsibilities include:

  • Lead the contract management for Bushmaster projects to enable successful project completion and delivery.

  • Lead facilitation of LC&C outcomes for the Bushmaster portfolio, ensuring robust application of, and compliance to, the Thales Contract Management Operating Model and other areas of contract management policy/governance.

  • Review, draft and negotiate contracts with customers and suppliers for new opportunities and contracts entered by PRV to deliver superior business outcomes.

  • Lead commercial discussion about use and rights associated with intellectual property (IP) as part of projects, contracts and programs of work.

  • Support Procurement with subcontracting and relevant supply chain management in accordance with Thales governance and processes.

  • Lead contract management of major subcontracts under Bushmaster program deliver.

  • Work closely with Finance to assist and make recommendations to improve financial and Value for Money outcomes.

  • Work closely with senior PRV leaders and management teams to provide LC&C input focused on high value, high risk matters.

  • Ensure adherence to, and compliance with, Thales’ internal policies and procedures (including the Code of Ethics and global document retention and file maintenance policies and procedures).

  • Assist in implementing and improving governance and other processes within PRV to apply and continuously improve contract management, compliance, and operational processes and reporting.

  • Comply with Thales Group policies and assist with PRV compliance with the same.

  • Assist in implementing and improving activities to transform aspects of the LC&C function.

YOUR EXPERIENCE:

To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Law, or similar.

  • Experience with Government Contracting (e.g. ASDEFCON) is highly preferred.

  • Professional Commercial / Contract Management qualifications desirable.

EXPERIENCE

  • 8 years or more experience in Commercial/Contracts Management role, or an equivalent time spent in a relevant professional field (e.g. quantity surveying, procurement, legal practice) combined with sell-side commercial/contracts experience.

  • Sound understanding of intellectual property and application in a complex manufacturing / system-of-systems environment.

  • Sound commercial knowledge and experience, with demonstrated ability to deliver bid and project outcomes.

  • Demonstrated ability to engage successfully with customers and suppliers to achieve outcomes.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to obtain Defence Security Clearance.

  • Must be able to travel interstate travel to Bendigo, Melbourne, Eagle Farm, and other Thales Australia sites as required.
