The Role
Description

Datarails is the financial planning and analysis platform that automates data consolidation, reporting and planning, while enabling finance teams to continue using their own Excel spreadsheets and financial models. Datarails integrates with the most popular accounting software, ERPs and CRMs so all your data can be consolidated. Reduce risk, make informed decisions, and ensure stakeholders.

As Datarails continues to transform how finance teams work, you'll be at the forefront of shaping industry conversations. Your content will directly influence how CFOs and finance leaders think about technology adoption, process improvement, and strategic planning. You'll have the opportunity to establish Datarails as the definitive voice representing technology and trends in the CFO’s Office while building a content engine that takes our brand to the next level.

About The Role

What You'll Do
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy that drives business growth and strengthens Datarails' brand in the CFO technology space
  • Lead content creation including thought leadership articles, blogs, research, in-depth whitepapers, case studies, and video content that provides unique insights CFOs and finance teams can't find elsewhere
  • Collaborate closely with marketing, sales, and product teams to ensure content aligns with campaign objectives and product messaging 
  • Research and uncover unique and news-worthy angles that position Datarails as a thought leader
  • Owning and improving content performance across traditional SEO metrics and emerging Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), optimizing for maximum reach, discoverability, and engagement

Requirements

Core Experience & Education

  • 5+ years of experience in content creation and strategy, with strong preference for B2B SaaS or fintech industry experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • Proven track record of developing successful content marketing strategies that drive measurable business results
  • Creativity, Can-do attitude, thinking big, attention to detail and powerful storytelling in all forms

Journalistic Excellence

  • Exceptional writing ability with a lively, engaging style that makes complex financial and technical concepts accessible and compelling
  • Clarity - clear writing, always be “showing not telling” in all your content through clear examples and insights, and passion to get to the heart of a subject
  • News sense - understanding of what makes a news story and cutting through the noise
  • Strong investigative instincts and insatiable curiosity to dig deep into industry trends, customer challenges, and market dynamics
  • Research expertise with ability to conduct interviews, commission research, analyze industry data, and synthesize complex information 
  • Unique value creation - demonstrated passion and ability to provide perspectives, analysis, and insights that audiences cannot find from competitors or industry publications

Technical & Strategic Skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of traditional SEO principles, search ranking factors, algorithm updates, and core web vitals
  • Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) expertise - understanding of how to create and optimize content for AI-powered search engines like Perplexity, ChatGPT, and other AI discovery platforms
  • Strong analytical mindset with proficiency in Google Analytics, content performance measurement, and data-driven optimization
  • Experience with SEO tools (SEMrush, etc.) and AI search optimization 
  • Design understanding including powerful visuals and concepts to bring stories, whitepapers and our products, to life 

Industry & Audience Knowledge

  • Understanding of the CFO's Office - familiarity with financial planning, analysis workflows, reporting challenges, and technology adoption 
  • Ability to translate complex concepts and financial processes into clear, valuable content that moves the needle
  • Understanding of finance team hierarchies, decision-making processes, and successful content 

Technology & Tools

  • Hands-on experience with generative AI tools for content research, analysis, iteration, and creation
  • Proficiency with marketing automation platforms (HubSpot, Salesforce) and content management systems
  • Experience with content distribution and amplification tools

  • Native-level English proficiency with exceptional command of grammar, tone, and nuance required for creating compelling marketing content
