About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Content Manager to lead our content strategy, production, and execution. As Sr. Content Manager, you’ll develop a deep understanding of our audience and work across performance and D2C teams to meet the content needs of various stakeholders. You’ll be an excellent communicator, editor, collaborator, and coordinator with an eye for detail and a mind for strategy.

Senior Content Managers are responsible for owning the day-to-day creation, coordination, and execution of Sleep Doctor’s content initiatives and strategy. They manage the start-to-finish production of commercial and health-content pages and initiatives, from managing the production queue to creating content specifications (briefs), managing freelance writers and editors, maintaining brand tone, voice, and quality across formats, and publishing all content in the CMS. Senior Content Managers work as architects for our content – identifying trends and topics our readers care about, understanding user-intent, and building content experiences based on user engagement metrics. They research, report on, develop, and produce the frameworks and resources necessary for our content-based products.

This position reports to Sleep Doctor’s VP of Content and will be based out of our Seattle office or will be a remote position.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee the planning, execution, tracking, and reporting of content projects by managing in-house and external resources
  • Create content specifications for our production teams and manage the production of a variety of content types from start to finish
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business needs, develop content that supports these needs, and ensure cohesive messaging and alignment of content assets and production
  • Assign, schedule, write, edit, proofread, review, publish, and optimize content to ensure brand consistency, quality, and adherence to SEO best practices
  • Manage and audit databases of proprietary content product information, coordinating the development of new databases and entries as needed
  • Track and report out on content performance and production via quantitative and qualitative means to provide actionable insights for continuous improvement
  • Resolve production issues and bottlenecks as needed to improve efficiency
  • Develop internal resources and tools for training, reference, quality assurance, and project management purposes
  • Perform administrative functions pertaining to the production of content assets, including network communications, invoice management, contract negotiations, and more
  • Manage monthly contractor expenses against budget and ensure invoices are paid in a timely manner

Duties will change at the company's sole discretion. You may be asked to perform duties that are outside of this description.

What We Are Looking For

  • 6-8+ years of experience in content management and creation, with at least 2+ years in a managerial or leadership position (ideally focused on performance marketing, B2C, and D2C content)
  • Demonstrated expertise with written content, content production, and project management
  • A good understanding of how various types of content (webpages, ebooks, social media, email marketing) fit into content campaigns and an aptitude for thoroughly understanding user intent and experience
  • An adaptable and agile mindset. A team player with strong ownership, communication, collaboration, and coordination skills
  • SEO experience, including familiarity with Google Analytics and Semrush
  • Publishing experience in HTML, Wordpress, and/or Shopify
