WHAT THE TEAM IS LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a Senior Content Designer to write/design/collaborate on key moments across customer journeys, shape our voice and tone across programs, products, and domains, develop engaging, inspiring, and novel experiences as well as support your peers to rethink the way we and our partners create engaging content.

As a member of the central Content Design team, you will collaborate closely with product designers, product managers, user researchers, engineers and other stakeholders in cross-functional teams that have end-to-end responsibility for solving meaningful customer problems — from ideating through prototyping and user testing to bringing features live.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

  • Lead the design practice by defining and activating content design principles, leading key initiatives, and delivering remarkable experiences. Act as a customer advocate throughout the development process while/by being a great sparring partner for your fellow designers, product managers, and other design, marketing, and content functions. Shape and advance our voice and tone. Help improve how design operates. Engage with and mentor other (content) designers and give back to the Zalando community by teaching others.

  • Discover unmet needs for Zalando products and identify opportunities to make them more powerful and usable. Lead research, define which quant and qual data is to be gathered (and how); help assess whether the problem is worth solving.

  • Define copy strategy that influences, expands, and translates customer benefits and product (and) brand strategy into marketable narratives and coherent messaging. Work out holistic customer journeys that your peers can draw from. Work with customer insights to make sure we’re focussing on the right opportunities.

  • Design human-centred solutions using language that scales across markets and locales. Write engaging interaction- and content-first copy. Ensure that experiences follow (our) design principles and are technically feasible. Solve complex problems, sometimes in uncharted spaces, and harness technology to innovate. Conceptualise inspirational, shoppable, and scalable content formats that help diverse types of customers feel confident in their comfort zone and comfortable with going beyond it. Help set the standards for how experiences read, look, and feel.

  • Deliver the best UX content by raising the bar for what goes into localisation. Scope, and define deliverables. Provide clearly detailed documentation to your fellow product managers and engineers.

  • While you have likely seen design orgs at different levels of scale and maturity before, you can demonstrate a solid range of content design/UX writing skills built on top of brand, marketing, product marketing, or editorial experience. In any case, you have a track record in human-centred storytelling. 

  • You facilitate and communicate clearly, set stakeholder expectations, share knowledge and insights, explain design, information architecture, and copy rationales, build common understanding, and spread excitement around a customer experience vision. You are willing to challenge, convince, motivate, and inspire to get remarkable and marketable solutions delivered. You understand where e-commerce and the fashion industry stand today. 

  • You are excited about the technical opportunities on a vast, multi-market, multi-language platform whether we’re talking microcopy, video, or large language models that sound human (without pretending to be).
