As a Senior Consultant, Air Quality Compliance in Engineering or Science in Irvine, CA, you’ll be the trusted advisor helping clients achieve compliance, reduce risk, and meet sustainability goals—all while contributing to ERM’s mission of shaping a cleaner, safer future.

What You’ll Bring

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (chemical, environmental, civil, or mechanical engineering), environmental science, or related discipline.

  • 3+ years of relevant experience.

  • Working knowledge of local, state, and federal air programs (Title V, RECLAIM facilities).

  • Direct consulting or industry experience in the environmental field with working regulatory knowledge of local air districts (SCAQMD and other local air districts), state and federal programs, Title V and RECLAIM facilities.

  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to read, understand, and apply environmental regulations and agency guidance documents.

  • Strong MS Office computer skills, with an advanced understanding of PowerPoint and Excel required.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to clients as needed.

  • Apply a collaborative approach and enjoy teaming with colleagues around the world.

  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude; motivated to deliver outstanding client service and grow the business.

  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with agencies like local Air Quality Management Districts, California Air Resources Board, and other Southwest regulators.

  • Strong technical skills in emissions inventory, permitting, and compliance evaluations; familiarity with pollution controls and equipment systems is a plus.

  • Knowledge of water, wastewater, and waste programs is a plus.

  • Field experience with data collection, air compliance monitoring, assessments, and permitting; experience with stormwater inspections, technical writing, SWPPP updates, HMBP prep, or wastewater permit applications a plus.

  • Skilled at interpreting environmental regulations and guidance documents.

  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset with solid computational skills.

  • Proven success managing projects and building lasting client relationships.

  • Advanced MS Office skills, especially PowerPoint and Excel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare emission inventories, permit applications, and compliance reports.

  • Conduct regulatory applicability evaluations and implement compliance management systems.

  • Perform fieldwork, including air compliance assessments and multi-media inspections.

  • Liaise with regulators and clients to ensure timely permit approvals.

For the Senior Consultant, Air Quality Compliance in Engineering or Science position, the anticipated annual base pay is $84,860 - $108,285 USD. Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
