An enterprise client is seeking a Senior Compute & Cloud Engineer to join its Compute & Cloud Platform team. This role is responsible for designing, engineering, and evolving enterprise compute, virtualization, identity, backup, and cloud platforms that support business growth across global environments.

The selected candidate will work closely with Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and IT Operations teams to define platform standards, improve reliability, enhance security, and drive modernization initiatives across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments. This is a strategic platform engineering role focused on architecture, automation, scalability, and resilience rather than day-to-day system administration.

Job Description

This opportunity is ideal for experienced infrastructure and cloud professionals who enjoy building and improving enterprise platforms at scale.

What You'll Do:

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-grade Windows Server, VMware, and Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Develop and maintain Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) solutions, including hybrid identity architectures.
  • Design and support Remote Desktop Services (RDS) environments.
  • Create and maintain platform standards, architecture documentation, and implementation frameworks.
  • Lead infrastructure modernization initiatives, cloud adoption projects, and technology refresh programs.
  • Own backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies using Veeam Backup & Replication.
  • Develop and validate recovery procedures to ensure platform resilience and operational readiness.
  • Implement secure-by-design principles and support vulnerability management initiatives.
  • Apply identity and access management best practices, including RBAC, conditional access, and privileged access controls.
  • Build automation solutions for provisioning, configuration management, patching, and operational validation.
  • Improve platform observability through monitoring, logging, and performance analytics.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentor engineering teams, and support strategic infrastructure initiatives.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure, virtualization, cloud engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Windows Server
    • VMware vSphere
    • Active Directory
    • Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
    • Veeam Backup & Replication
    • Remote Desktop Services (RDS)
  • Experience designing highly available, scalable, and resilient infrastructure platforms.
  • Strong understanding of identity management, authentication, and access control frameworks.
  • Experience supporting distributed, multi-site, or enterprise-scale environments.
  • Ability to create architecture documentation, technical standards, and platform roadmaps.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and hybrid cloud environments.
  • PowerShell scripting, APIs, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts.
  • Microsoft, VMware, or Azure certifications.
  • Familiarity with ITIL-based operating models.
  • Experience supporting cloud migrations, infrastructure transformations, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), or large-scale modernization projects.
  • Experience working in manufacturing or highly regulated enterprise environments.
