Role Overview: 

As our Senior Compliance Manager, you will be a key member of the In-Country Compliance function and will be working closely with the Group Legal & Compliance Department. You will be responsible for holding the position of MLRO/NO along with being the principal point of contact between the business and the regulators. You will work closely with the Group Head of Compliance to embed the department’s strategy and identify opportunities for improvement in the business’s approach with adhering to the regulations and requirements. Reporting to the General Manager, you will work closely to drive improvements and support in building knowledge of AML and Responsible Gambling across the business.

What You Will Be Doing:   

  • Implement and adapt the Group Compliance risk management framework to ensure it meets all local requirements
  • Work to identify and risks, and collaborate with the Group Compliance function to develop mitigation plans
  • Hold the position of Money Laundering Reporting Officer/Nominated Officer, and be accountable for submitting all necessary reports to the Financial Information Centre
  • Act as the principal point of contact between the business and the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board, and be responsible for submitting all applicable reports and acquiring necessary approvals
  • Hold the position of Information Officer, and act as the primary point of contact for the business
  • Support the local business by operating as the subject matter expert for all areas of compliance
  • Coordinate and deliver training in accordance with local requirements and in-line with the Group plans
  • Assist with regulatory and other ad-hoc projects

What You Need for This Role:  

  • Demonstratable experience of leading a compliance function within the gaming industry
  • A strong understanding of the regulatory environment in South Africa, preferably with experience of working with the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board
  • Experience of contributing to the development and implementation of compliance frameworks
  • The ability to work proactively and independently
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to succinctly assess risk and prioritise work accordingly
  • You’ll possess excellent interpersonal skills, capable of influencing teams across a number of different locations
  • A passionate and enthusiastic individual
  • Personable, yet firm. Not afraid to challenge and direct where required
  • A great communicator with the ability to present complex information succinctly across all levels of the business
  • Detail oriented with the ability to confidently make decisions in a timely manner
