About the Role

CFS Brands is seeking an experienced Senior Compliance Engineer to lead product compliance and regulatory engineering initiatives across multiple brands and product categories within our growing portfolio. This role will serve as the technical expert for regulatory compliance, environmental requirements, sustainability initiatives, and global product regulations that support new product development and ongoing commercialization efforts.

As CFS Brands continues to expand through growth and brand integration, the Senior Compliance Engineer will play a critical role in establishing scalable compliance processes, assessing regulatory impacts on products and materials, and partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet applicable global requirements.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical and regulatory expertise, a deep understanding of product compliance requirements, and the ability to translate complex regulations into practical engineering and business solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical lead for global product compliance, regulatory requirements, sustainability initiatives, and emerging industry standards.
  • Evaluate products, materials, packaging, and manufacturing processes for compliance with applicable regulatory and environmental requirements.
  • Support compliance activities for North American and international markets, including EU regulations, plastics regulations, packaging requirements, Proposition 65, and other emerging regulatory obligations.
  • Support product and packaging compliance data, including support for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) reporting requirements and state environmental reporting programs.
  • Interpret regulations, standards, and customer compliance requirements and testing requirements, and communicate to business.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product Development, Quality, Supply Chain, Sourcing, Marketing, and Operations teams to ensure compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Review, material declarations, and technical specifications to identify compliance risks and requirements.
  • Lead compliance assessments during new product development, design changes, supplier transitions, and product launches.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain and suppliers to obtain technical documentation, material disclosures, compliance certifications, and supporting regulatory data.
  • Support product testing, certification activities, product validations, and regulatory documentation requirements.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and assess potential impacts on products, materials, packaging, and business operations.
  • Develop and maintain compliance documentation, technical files, reporting tools, and Stand Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Partner with external laboratories, regulatory consultants, and industry organizations to support compliance and certification initiatives.
  • Travel up to 15% as required.

Qualifications

   Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, , or other Science related technical discipline.
  • 8-10+ years of experience in product compliance, regulatory compliance, quality engineering, product stewardship, environmental compliance, or a related technical field.
  • Strong knowledge of global product compliance requirements, regulatory frameworks, sustainability initiatives, and environmental regulations.
  • Experience supporting compliance programs involving packaging, plastics, consumer products, foodservice products, or industrial products.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret legislation, technical standards, regulatory requirements, and certification criteria and translate them into actionable engineering requirements.
  • Experience reviewing, specifications, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical and regulatory concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple functions.

   Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) reporting, packaging regulations, environmental stewardship programs, or sustainability initiatives.
  • Knowledge of regulations and standards related to plastics, packaging, food-contact materials, chemicals, and environmental compliance.
  • Familiarity with EU regulations, REACH, NSF, RoHS, Packaging Waste Regulations, Prop 65, and related global compliance requirements.
  • PMP certification or experience leading cross-functional compliance projects.
  • Experience working with testing laboratories, certification bodies, and regulatory agencies.
  • Foodservice, hospitality, consumer products, healthcare products, or industrial manufacturing industry experience preferred.
