We are seeking a talented individual to join our Compensation team at Mercer, a Marsh business. This role will be based in the Toronto office. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
As a Senior Associate in Mercer’s Compensation Consulting practice, you will collaborate on challenging compensation and total rewards consulting engagements to support companies, of all sizes and across all industries, solve their greatest challenges by designing and implementing workforce strategies that help to attract and retain top talent. You will take ownership of projects, working directly with clients while overseeing analytical work that informs the design, review, and implementation of workforce and executive compensation programs. The role also includes contributing to business growth by preparing proposals, responding to RFPs, and creating thought leadership materials such as whitepapers and presentations. You will collaborate closely with the Canadian Compensation Consulting team and connect with Mercer’s broader network of compensation professionals.
We will count on you to:
Provide consulting services to senior management on a variety of remuneration issues, including competitiveness of pay, performance measurement, and governance and regulatory implications.
Lead and mentor a team of analysts to deliver multiple compensation and total rewards projects on time and to a high standard.
Conduct research and analysis to diagnose organizational issues and strategies, and to interpret industry and market trends related to compensation, total rewards, talent attraction/retention, and organizational goals.
Perform external market reviews and benchmarking analyses to assess an organization’s compensation and total rewards competitiveness relative to peer groups.
Develop and deploy job evaluation methodologies, including support for job description creation and evaluation activities.
Conduct federal and provincial pay equity analyses to support and inform an organization’s pay equity compliance strategy.
Prepare clear and compelling client reports and presentations, including recommendations for senior management, HR leaders, boards of directors, and executives, and contribute ideas through team brainstorming sessions to shape client solutions.
Recognize and identify business development/sales opportunities
What you need to have:
A Bachelor’s degree majoring in finance, economics, business, mathematics, statistics or HR
Minimum 5 years of compensation and/or relevant work experience in human resources/management consulting
Experience consulting with leading public and private companies in a variety of industries on compensation strategy development, competitive pay evaluation, pay/performance links, incentive program design (annual and long-term), equity strategy, change in control planning, mergers and acquisitions, board compensation, and other issues.
Demonstrated expertise in analyzing large, complex data sets and translating findings into clear presentations and reports using Microsoft PowerPoint.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas and functions, with the ability to build integrated, multi-sheet analytical models.
Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical, critical thinking, and technical skills, with the capability to apply these strengths in new contexts and on new projects.
Extensive project management experience overseeing multiple concurrent initiatives and timelines, including leading teams to successfully meet project objectives and deliverables.
