The Position

The Senior Pharma International Communications Lead, LATAM, Pharma International, is part of an international team working to enhance Roche’s reputation, advance business outcomes and inspire our people. Functioning as an upstream strategic business partner to our LATAM Area Head, General Managers, and Leadership Teams, this role will also influence, establish and leverage partnerships and platforms to meaningfully advance the public health conversation,drive patient access and healthcare system shaping (HSS), and balance immediate portfolio delivery with long-term strategy While the successful candidate will lead the Communications network for Pharma in LATAM, he/she will dedicate a meaningful portion of time to collaborate within the broader global Pharma International network, leading work on global strategic priorities, sharing best practices, and driving cross-market synergies.

The Opportunity

  • Upstream Strategic Partnering & Leadership Advisory: Acts as a trusted member of the LATAM NET team and strategic advisor to the Pharma Area Head, GMs, and Leadership Teams. Co-designs local/regional commercial and HSS strategies, forces strategic choices, and navigates key trade-offs (e.g., Visibility vs. Credibility).

  • Ecosystem Shaping & Policy Activation: Leads multi-stakeholder engagement and policy shaping to advance public health conversations and accelerate sustainable commercial access across priority disease areas.

  • Insight-Driven & Outcome-Based Planning: Converts raw local/regional ecosystem data into verified behavioral insights. Translates commercial goals into actionable, outcome-based plans (STO / MTO / LTO) linked to Commercialisation Excellence Leads and External Affairs frameworks.

  • OneRoche Opportunity & Strategic Alignment: Selectively leverages and champions the OneRoche enterprise approach when clear strategic opportunities arise to showcase differential value and unique market positioning, aligning public policy, market shaping, and communications for maximum stakeholder impact.

  • Network & Capability Building: Sets an ambitious, patient-centered vision and coaches regional and local teams. Transitions the operating model from affiliate/siloed communication to a networked model that strengthens internal strategic capacity, mentors local communicators, and prioritizes synergy opportunities.

  • Digital & AI Integration: Adopts omnichannel approaches, manages digital channel governance, and leverages AI efficiency tools for tactical output, shifting focus toward high-value strategic execution.

  • Internal Alignment & Culture: Drives internal engagement under the VACC framework (Visionary, Architect, Catalyst, Coach) to ensure teams across the region understand business direction and unite behind a common purpose.

  • Issues & Risk Management: Proactively identifies, anticipates, and mitigates reputational and stakeholder risks across the LATAM ecosystem.

Experience & Requirements

  • Experience:

    • 7–10 years of work experience in public affairs, corporate communications, or strategic market shaping in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.

    • Proven track record as an upstream strategic partner influencing executive leadership and driving policy shaping or access outcomes.

    • Experience leading multi-stakeholder advocacy and above-country engagement.

    • Demonstrated ability to lead in a non-hierarchical, network-based operating model (VACC approach).

    • Experience with omnichannel governance, digital campaign frameworks, and modern AI/data-driven tools.

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Management, Communications, International Relations, Politics or Public Policy 

    • Postgraduate degree in International Relations, Public Policy, or Healthcare Economics.

  • Languages & Mobility:

    • Spanish fluency and strong English fluency are essential. 

    • Some regional and international travel required.
