Working in Qantas Loyalty is exciting and fast moving, with a core focus on delivering exceptional outcomes for our Qantas Frequent Flyers. Qantas Loyalty has a variety of businesses ranging from Financial Services, Insurance, Hotels & Holidays, Retail, Airline Loyalty, Qantas Business Rewards, alongside the core QFF Program. As a recognised global leader in Loyalty, we continuously deliver exciting and valuable ways for our members to earn and use their points, through partnerships with leading brands. In Financial Services, Qantas Loyalty is a major market player, partnering with all major banks and majority of challenger brands, with over 35% of all credit card spend in Australia on a Qantas Points earning credit card.

The Senior Commercial Manager (Senior Product Manager) sits within the Financial Services co-brand commercial team, responsible for the management of a portfolio of financial services partners, with a mix of majors and challenger brands. You will be responsible for managing and growing existing partnerships across cards and non-cards products, plus identifying and onboarding new partners.

This position leads partnerships end to end, driving revenue growth and profitability, with strong collaborative partnerships, including negotiations and contracting to day to day partnership execution. This role works closely and collaboratively with all other Qantas Loyalty functional areas from marketing, technology, digital product, legal, finance to deliver on our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities may include:

  • Owns the end to end management for strategic partnerships within the co-brand financial services portfolio
  • Develop strong and collaborative working relationships with external partners, and internal Qantas Loyalty and Qantas Group stakeholders
  • Lead commercial negotiations with partners, including commercial modelling and negotiation wargaming, facilitating contract execution, coordinating with internal stakeholders and leading partner discussions
  • Develop and drive the implementation of strategic plans for each partnership in conjunction with partners and Qantas Loyalty marketing team for continuous growth, and meeting Qantas Loyalty’s and partners strategic objectives
  • Lead the strategic analysis to identify new commercial opportunities
  • Identify and recommend alternative revenue opportunities within existing commercial partnerships
  • Develops and oversees mechanisms to track and report on the progress against business metrics to monitor success and provide performance updates
  • Act as the escalation channels for all relevant stakeholders
  • Drive, sponsor and support of business improvement in business areas
  • Provides leadership and support to the broader team to foster a positive and collaborative environment, whilst driving achievement of individual and team performance objectives
  • Comply with Group Management Systems and Policy

You’ll have:

  • 5-10 years’ experience in the financial services industry, Big 4 banking experience highly valued
  • Business related degree or relevant tertiary qualification
  • Loyalty industry experience also highly valued
  • Strong commercial negotiation skills and proven ability to influence business outcomes
  • Extensive experience in business development activities including development of business cases and proposal for potential partner opportunities
  • Highly commercial, understands financial drivers of results, commercial modelling skillset
  • Demonstrated experience of building and managing strategic partnerships as well as exhibiting strong stakeholder management (internal & external)
  • Capable of mobilising individuals to change; builds group momentum for change
  • Ability to manage and prioritise diverse business objectives and resolve complex issues
  • Ability to engage people through communication and leadership skills and influence positive outcomes
  • Strives to empower teams to perform; inspires high performance teams
  • Demonstrates an innovative, collaborative and responsive style
  • Takes ownership of, and personal accountability for decisions and actions
