About Abridge

Abridge was founded in 2018 with the mission of powering deeper understanding in healthcare. Our AI-powered platform was purpose-built for medical conversations, improving clinical documentation efficiencies while enabling clinicians to focus on what matters most—their patients.

Our enterprise-grade technology transforms patient-clinician conversations into structured clinical notes in real-time, with deep EMR integrations. Powered by Linked Evidence and our purpose-built, auditable AI, we are the only company that maps AI-generated summaries to ground truth, helping providers quickly trust and verify the output. As pioneers in generative AI for healthcare, we are setting the industry standards for the responsible deployment of AI across health systems.

We are a growing team of practicing MDs, AI scientists, PhDs, creatives, technologists, and engineers working together to empower people and make care make more sense. We have offices located in the Mission District in San Francisco, the SoHo neighborhood of New York, and East Liberty in Pittsburgh.

The Role

Abridge’s government business is growing in both volume and complexity, and this role will own the contract product, and compliance work that powers it. We are looking for a seasoned attorney with experience building relationships with and contracting with government agencies. As a Senior Corporate Counsel - Government Contracting, you will be at the front lines of making Abridge a success, working with internal stakeholders across the sales, partner success, security and product teams to support contracting, product development, and compliance with some of our most complex customers.

What You'll Do
  • Drive customer growth by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex government contracts, ensuring compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and agency specific requirements

  • Provide guidance throughout the entire lifecycle of product build and government contracting, from government sales strategy and solicitation review through bid submission, negotiation, to implementation and ongoing regulatory and government contract compliance

  • Work with our commercial legal team in iterating on and improving our templates, and developing playbooks and processes for improving accuracy and efficiency

  • Facilitate automation and efficiencies in collaboration with our Legal Ops team

  • Stay abreast of regulatory and policy developments that may impact decision making

  • Work with and manage outside counsel to navigate complex and novel questions

  • Please note, while we anticipate the majority of time will be spent supporting government contracting, the exact percentage may vary week-to-week, and this role will be expected to support other aspects of the commercial legal function when core work is slower

What You'll Bring
  • 7+ years of experience in a legal function with at least 3 years of advising on working with government contracting and related compliance.

  • Established ability to advise on government contract implementation and ongoing compliance, including translating contract obligations into internal processes and assessing adherence to those obligations.

  • Comfort with juggling tight timelines, competing priorities, and a high volume of contracts

  • Passion for Abridge’s mission and the energy and drive to support a fast-moving commercial team

  • A customer-service mindset; we approach our deals as collaborative projects and treat negotiations as a tool to establish strong partnerships with our customers

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently; interest in joining a small team that prioritizes autonomy and trust

  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally, particularly with technical teams, security, and sales teams, building relationships and earning their confidence

  • Creativity in solving and navigating novel contractual matters; experience in crafting new approaches and language to meet the needs of a rapidly-moving enterprise in a novel industry

  • Familiarity with bid protest proceedings and experience in healthcare or healthcare technology are helpful but not required.
