The Role

ABOUT US

We’re the world’s leading provider of secure financial messaging services, headquartered in Belgium. We are the way the world moves value – across borders, through cities and overseas. No other organisation can address the scale, precision, pace and trust that this demands, and we’re proud to support the global economy.

We’re unique too. We were established to find a better way for the global financial community to move value – a reliable, safe and secure approach that the community can trust, completely. We’re always striving to be better and are constantly evolving in an ever-changing landscape, without undermining that trust. Five decades on, our vibrant community reflects the complexity and diversity of the financial ecosystem. We innovate diligently, test exhaustively, then implement fast. In a connected and exciting era, our mission has never been more relevant. Swift now has a presence in 200+ countries and legal territories to serve a community of more than 12,000 banks and financial institutions.

In this role within Business Development, you will be responsible for managing and expanding relationships with a portfolio of existing clients while also identifying and acquiring new business across global, regional, and domestic banks, financial institutions, large corporates, and asset managers. Your primary focus will be on driving strategy adoption as well as revenue growth through the promotion and sale of SWIFT’s solutions, products and services.

You will play a key role in identifying strategic opportunities, negotiating commercial agreements, and ensuring long-term client satisfaction. Additionally, you will engage with market infrastructures and industry communities across Switzerland, Austria, and Liechtenstein to strengthen SWIFT’s presence and foster collaborative partnerships within the financial ecosystem.

You bring 7+ years of business development experience, fluency in German and English, and excellent presentation, communication, and networking skills. You also possess strong knowledge of banking and/or corporate cash management, along with a solid understanding of the SWIFT product portfolio.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Drive business growth by identifying market opportunities and building long-term relationships with key global banks, financial institutions, corporates, and market infrastructures.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans and large-scale initiatives to achieve commercial objectives efficiently.
  • Establish and maintain senior-level engagement, ensuring regular access to key stakeholders and involving SWIFT leadership when appropriate.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and single point of contact for major clients, coordinating internal resources to deliver tailored solutions.
  • Lead the implementation of strategic projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with customer needs and SWIFT’s portfolio.
  • Represent SWIFT at industry events, promoting our products and services to expand market presence.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver integrated solutions and provide feedback on market trends, client needs, and product performance.
  • Prepare and present solution proposals in coordination with internal experts, ensuring successful delivery and adoption.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends - particularly digital transformation - and share knowledge with peers and teams.

Your Qualifications:

  • University degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, consulting, or client-facing roles within the financial industry
  • Strong expertise in banking operations (Payment/Securities), financial instruments, risk, and regulatory frameworks - especially with banks, asset managers, and corporate clients in the region
  • Solid understanding of current and emerging financial technologies, platforms, and solutions
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with strong analytical and project management capabilities
  • Fluent in German (mother tongue) and English (French is a plus)
  • Proactive, collaborative and strategically driven, with strong commercial acumen and excellent networking skills
  • Resilient, adaptable and confident in working independently

Your Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation with attractive fringe benefits
  • Freedom to shape your career in an international, multi-market environment
  • Access to well established client relationships in the financial sector
  • A supportive culture that values individuality and high performance
  • Modern office in Zurich city with flexible remote work options
  • Flat hierarchies and a collaborative, professional team
  • Opportunities to contribute to meaningful initiatives and community engagement
  • Work with state-of-the-art technologies and a unique global network
