As a Senior Colour Designer – Men’s, you drive the colour creative process from concept through to development, across every product in the Men’s collection. You lead the delivery of seasonal collections to maintain a strong competitive advantage in all relevant markets, with recognized colour excellence for our Men’s product line. You champion the colour creation process in line with Arc’teryx brand standards, design, product principles and colour merchandising philosophies.

This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is expected to be performed on site. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.


Meet your future team:

The Colour & Graphics Team is a hub that links the product design and visual merchandising process with the guest experience. We balance creativity, design, process, and logistics to ensure the successful execution of the Arc’teryx colour and graphics design philosophy.

If you were the Senior Colour Designer – Men’s now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:

  • Building, coaching and guiding a high performing team of colour designers
  • Coaching and mentoring the colour designers in the colour creative process and overseeing the completion of all colour specifications to meet Arc’teryx brand aesthetics
  • Forecasting colour direction for product collections, and collaborating to create cross-category cohesiveness that exceeds industry expectations
  • Creating palettes that embrace sociological insights, awareness of global trends, current colour harmony tendencies and regional colour preferences, while maintaining the essence of Arc’teryx
  • Collaborating with designers on the creation of innovative and efficient new products that are feasible within a manufacturing environment
  • Collaborating with the Merchandising team to establish a seasonal continuance strategy, retail store flow plans and regional directed assortments
  • Driving colour merchandising concepts through optimal outfit coordination, article assortment aesthetics and cross-merchandising strategies
  • Consulting on products across Veilance and Special Projects categories
  • Delivering commercial colour assortments that meet article efficiency targets by analyzing metrics and gathering insights from business channels including sales, forecasting and product line management
  • Optimizing colour design across an extensive and complex raw material matrix to ensure successful colour applications to textiles
  • Managing the colour lifecycle of products to ensure that there is a balance between timelines and the creative process
  • Building a network of external industry contacts specializing in colour creative development
  • Establishing best practices to increase efficiency and colour quality assurance across colour development process

Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:

  • Creating and presenting the colour vision and direction for both evergreen and seasonal
  • Partnering with the Design team on colour palettes, colouring styles and graphic development
  • Collaborating with the Visual Merchandising and Merchandising teams to create a framework for enhanced guest experience and flow
  • Working with the Supply Chain teams on logistical frameworks and process
  • Sharing seasonal direction with the Brand and Commercial teams

Are you our next Senior Colour Designer – Men’s?

  • You have an Apparel Design Diploma, or the equivalent experience
  • You have 7+ years’ experience in the colour and fashion environment, with 2+ years’ experience leading a team
  • You have a demonstrated and extraordinary sense for colour harmony
  • You have extensive knowledge of colour theory
  • You have a superior level of colour acuity
  • You understand diverse materials and have a curiosity to learn technical capacities and limitations
  • You have experience in line development
  • You have a proven ability to deliver successful commercial collections
  • You have an awareness of Arc’teryx products and their applications
  • You have advanced capabilities in the Adobe suite
  • You have excellent communication and presentation skills; able to translate your ideas visually, written and verbally
  • You understanding the retail buying and line development process
  • You have knowledge of manufacturing timelines
  • You have the ability to adhere to critical path and established deadlines
  • You are a proactive and creative problem solver
  • You have strong attention to detail
  • You have demonstrated leadership and influencing skills
  • You have a strong awareness of global markets and cultural differences

Compensation:

    The salary range for this role is CAD$108,000 - CAD$142,000

This range reflects market alignment and the scope of the role. Individual pay is determined by your skills, experience, and level of responsibility.
