Alarm.com is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Senior CM Operations Manager responsible for estimating production costs, controlling aging materials, reducing component excess risks. and managing products in sustaining phase. The Senior CM Operations Manager will also be jointly responsible with the product development team to optimize costs for products including that of Bill of Materials (BOM), that of Manufacturing Value Added (MVA) and that of Purchase Price Variance (PPV). He/she will also work with the project management team and the supply chain team to minimize the risks of material excesses due to forecast changes, ECRs/ECOs and product EOL throughout the entire product lifecycle.

Duties to be Performed

  • Acquire and evaluate pricing documents, historical component cost information and vendor cost data for the development of product cost estimates and for the management of the cost of aging/excess materials.
  • Support Product Managers and Product Development Engineering Teams on estimating the costs of electronic products including camera products, wireless communications products, and AP/gateway/bridge products.
  • Prepare reports on accurate and detailed material and component liability and risks.
  • Oversee cycle count process and confirm physical material inventory counts match the inventory records provided by the manufacturing partners.
  • Work with the manufacturing partners on the reconciliation of periodic component inventory ledgers to the general ledger
  • Identify, investigate, and make recommendations to the product management team and project management team on reducing the risks of obsolete and slow-moving component inventory.
  • Review, estimate, and reconcile the impact of Engineering Changes (ECs) with the product managers to optimize the product costs as well as with the manufacturing partners to minimize the material excess risks.
  • Collaborate with product managers and suppliers to investigate and identify components for the purpose of Design for Cost (DFC).
  • Work with the Partner Management to consolidate RFQ cost proposals from potential manufacturing partners. 
  • Undertake other component cost related tasks as directed by the supervisor.
  • Manage products in sustaining phase through EOL phase to ensure material inventory is well controlled with minimized excess material risks.

Qualifications for the Position

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or in other professional fields with substitute working experiences.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience working for the EMS or OEM industry on cost management and project management of electronic products.
  • Understanding of the cost structure and content of the BOM for electronic products.
  • Knowledgeable in unit costs and experienced in negotiating the unit costs of electronic, mechanical and electromechanical components.
  • Knowledge of electronic manufacturing processes including SMT, DIP, assembly, testing, packaging, and costing methodologies.
  • Proficiency in various application software such as Excel and PowerPoint for effective communication on subject matters with various stakeholders.
  • Professional written, verbal, and presentation skills in English and in Chinese with the ability to effectively communicate with the stakeholders.
