Summary Generated by Built In

Kepler is building a new class of AI memory and logic.

We combine advanced materials, 3D architectures and deep semiconductor expertise to address fundamental physical limits in computing, including the space and energy required to support growing compute demands.

Our team has shipped technologies used in billions of devices and by hundreds of millions of people. We are backed by pioneers in computing and leading semiconductor companies and work alongside major customers and partners to move new technology from the lab toward real-world application.

At Kepler, you’ll work with curious, driven people solving complex technical challenges through experimentation, evidence and iteration. Your work will contribute directly to the technologies we’re building and to the computing capacity they can make possible.

About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to own and evolve the AWS/Linux infrastructure supporting our silicon design and EDA engineering environment. In this role, you will be the primary administrator responsible for the stability, scaling, performance and optimization of our cloud-based silicon design engineering environment. You will manage the core Linux systems, high-performance network file systems, virtual engineering desktops and cloud infrastructure that our chip design and verification teams rely on daily.

Responsibilities:
  • Cloud Linux Administration: Own the deployment, patch management, security hardening and OS performance tuning of our enterprise Linux server fleet (RHEL, AlmaLinux or similar) hosted in AWS.

  • High-Performance Storage Admin: Manage, monitor and tune enterprise-grade cloud shared filesystems (AWS FSx for NetApp ONTAP or similar) to support heavy read/write metadata workloads.

  • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure / Remote Access: Manage and troubleshoot Linux remote desktop compute environments (ThinLinc Cluster or similar, OpenVPN server).

  • License & Identity Management: Administer cloud-hosted FlexLM floating license servers. Integrate Linux user authentication and environment access securely with corporate identity systems (NIS, Active Directory via SSSD).

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Maintain and update cloud resources using Terraform/CloudFormation and configuration tools like Ansible.

Requirements:
  • Experience: 7+ years of Senior Linux Systems Administration experience AND 5+ years of dedicated AWS Cloud Administration/Engineering experience.

  • Linux Expertise: Expert-level understanding of the Linux operating system (job debug, memory allocation, storage/LVM management, NFSv3/NFSv4 tuning and system diagnostics like strace, iostat, sar).

  • AWS Core Administration: Deep hands-on knowledge of AWS system architecture, including VPC networking (Transit Gateways, subnets, Security Groups, and Route 53), IAM user/role governance and EC2 instance lifecycle management.

  • Automation & Scripting: Strong proficiency writing production-ready automation scripts in Bash and Python.

Nice to Have:

  • Previous experience working within an engineering IT or EDA design environment supporting heavy computational workloads and CAD engineering support with semiconductor design tools from vendors like Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens.

  • Familiarity with high-performance computing (HPC) clustering tools and job schedulers (such as IBM Spectrum LSF or Slurm).

  • Experience with Microsoft Server and Active Directory.

  • Experience with source control tools like ClioSoft SOS and Git.

  • Experience compiling scientific, Linux-based tools.

Compensation and Benefits

Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, qualifications, education, job responsibilities and work location.

Kepler offers a comprehensive benefits package to eligible employees, including medical, dental and vision coverage, retirement benefits, paid time off and additional Kepler benefits as applicable. Eligibility and benefit offerings may vary based on employment status and work location.
