About the Role

As a Cloud FinOps Engineer at Ushur AI, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing cloud infrastructure costs while ensuring reliability, scalability, and efficiency. You will partner closely with Finance, Infrastructure, and IT teams to bring visibility into cloud spend, drive cost optimization strategies, and establish a culture of financial accountability across engineering teams.

You will also be expected to collaborate with vendors like AWS, negotiate contracts, and leverage industry-leading FinOps tools to drive efficiency and savings. This role is ideal for someone with a hybrid background in Cloud FinOps and DevOps.

Responsibilities 

FinOps Ownership

• Manage and optimize AWS cloud spend, ensuring cost efficiency across services.
• Provide visibility, observability, and accurate reporting on infrastructure costs.
• Partner with Finance to drive forecasting, budgeting and cost accountability across business units.
• Maintain cost “stock” (tracking, allocation, and reporting of spend).

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with Finance, Infra, and IT teams to align cost optimization with business priorities.
• Negotiate pricing, savings plans, and contracts with AWS and other vendors.
• Evangelize FinOps best practices across engineering teams and leadership.

Infrastructure, DevOps & Automation

• Work with DevOps teams to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising reliability.
• Manage Kubernetes (EKS) deployments with an eye toward efficiency.
• Implement governance, automation, and monitoring to reduce waste and optimize resource allocation.
• Develop automation and internal tooling (e.g., scripts, dashboards, cost anomaly detectors) to enforce governance and reduce waste.

AI & Innovation

• Explore and integrate LLMs/AI-driven anomaly detection for proactive cost and performance monitoring.
• Leverage AI to scan infrastructure, detect misconfigurations, and identify optimization opportunities.
• Drive experimentation and adoption of next-gen AI/FinOps practices that enhance automation, prediction, and governance.

Continuous Improvement

• Stay current with emerging FinOps tools, cloud cost management practices, and vendor pricing models.
• Drive adoption of cost-efficient design in cloud-native, SaaS and AI architectures.
• Regularly review, audit, and improve billing data transparency, tagging strategies and usage insights. 

Qualifications 

Core Expertise:

• Strong experience in Cloud FinOps with proven success in cost optimization.
• Strong scripting/programming skills (Python) for building automation and custom cost management tooling.
• Deep understanding of AWS, especially EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service).
• Hands-on DevOps/SRE experience within the Kubernetes ecosystem (Helm, autoscaling, right-sizing, resource requests/limits).

Financial Acumen:

• Strong understanding of infrastructure spend, subscription plans, and cloud billing.
• Experience partnering with Finance teams to forecast, budget, and manage cloud costs.
• Knowledge of a wide variety of FinOps tools and platforms.

Soft Skills:

• Skilled negotiator with AWS and other vendors.
• Strong evangelization and communication skills—able to educate and influence teams on cost optimization.
• Ability to collaborate across Finance, Infra, IT, and Engineering.
