At Epignosis, our mission is simple yet bold: to make learning technologies accessible to every business, regardless of geography, sector, or company size. And we’ve been doing just that for more than two decades, empowering millions of people to grow, learn, and thrive through technology that’s both powerful and affordable.

We're rapidly becoming one of Greece's largest SaaS companies, serving 12,000+ companies and 11+ million learners worldwide with solutions like TalentLMS (an award-winning cloud LMS built for simplicity), eFront (an enterprise LMS), TalentCards (a mobile app for deskless training), and TalentHR (a lightweight HRIS for people operations).

Our success is built on a team that believes that work should matter — not only to you, but to the world around you. We're looking for people who light up when solving hard problems, who care deeply about their craft, and who want to build something that genuinely helps people grow.

We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our Cloud Infrastructure Engineering team, based in Athens. Reporting to the VP of Infrastructure, you will play a key role in architecting, implementing, and optimizing our AWS Cloud environment.

In this role, you will lead automation initiatives, promote Site Reliability Engineering best practices, and work closely with an experienced, DevOps-oriented team. You’ll apply your expertise to ensure the scalability, security, reliability, and performance of the cloud infrastructure that powers our product suite, while helping us continuously improve the way we build, operate, and scale our systems.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Cloud Engineer (DevOps/SRE), you will:

  • Lead the design, deployment, monitoring, and optimization of our AWS Cloud infrastructure.
  • Architect and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as CloudFormation, ensuring scalability and maintainability.
  • Drive automation of operational tasks using scripting and AWS orchestration services (e.g. Bash, Python, Step Functions).
  • Participate in the team’s On-Call rotation, taking ownership of incident response and providing expertise in resolving complex issues.
  • Partner with developers to design and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions, AWS CodeDeploy) for reliability and efficiency.
  • Build, evolve, and maintain internal tooling to streamline engineering workflows and improve developer productivity.
  • Define and monitor system performance metrics, lead incident response efforts, and oversee postmortem processes to drive long-term improvements.
  • Troubleshoot production systems at scale, offering deep technical guidance and serving as a subject-matter expert across teams.
  • Champion best practices in documentation, knowledge sharing, and operational excellence across the organization.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering their technical growth and professional development.

Requirements

To be successful in this Senior Cloud Engineer (DevOps/SRE) role, you should have:

  • 4+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or SRE roles, with a proven track record of managing production-grade systems.
  • Deep expertise in AWS cloud services and strong proficiency with Linux-based systems.
  • Strong skills in scripting and programming (e.g. Python, Bash) and experience building automation at scale.
  • Proficiency with version control systems (Git) and modern development workflows (CI/CD).
  • Hands-on experience architecting, implementing, and maintaining modern AWS cloud infrastructure, with a focus on scalability, security, and resilience.
  • Demonstrated ownership of complex systems and the ability to drive initiatives independently while mentoring less experienced engineers.
  • A collaborative mindset with proven success working across cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on operational excellence, performance, and reliability.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence technical discussions and document solutions effectively.
  • Availability to work in a hybrid setup with 2–3 days per week in our Athens/Heraklion office.
Nice to have
  • Extensive familiarity with container management and orchestration ecosystems, particularly Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS services like EKS and ECS.
  • Practical proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks such as Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation, with an emphasis on creating modular, reusable components.
  • Proven capability in developing and tuning automated delivery workflows via GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
  • Background utilizing modern observability and monitoring stacks, including Prometheus, Grafana, OpenSearch, and Amazon CloudWatch.
  • Relevant AWS professional credentials, such as the Solutions Architect certification.
  • Experience with identity and access management solutions such as Keycloak, Okta, Auth0, or similar platforms, including authentication, authorization, and identity federation.
