Job Description
Position Summary
the Senior Cloud Engineer focuses on cloud data platforms and integration, reports directly to the FinOps Technical Leader. The Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and supporting scalable cloud-based data solutions across Azure and AWS. You will use your experience in Databricks, data transformation, API integration, automation, and cloud-native technologies. It develops secure, reliable, and cost-effective data platforms that support FinOps, reporting, AI plans, and business decision-making. The Senior Cloud Engineer partners with IT, Finance, architecture, and business teams to deliver and enhance enterprise data and automation solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the develop, and support of scalable cloud data solutions using Databricks, Azure, and AWS services.
- Architect and improve ETL/ELT pipelines, lakehouse patterns, and data transformation processes using Spark, PySpark, SQL, and Python.
- Develop and oversee secure API ingestion and integration patterns for internal, vendor, cloud, and enterprise data sources.
- Promote automation, monitoring, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code practices to improve platform reliability, repeatability, and operational efficiency.
- Partner with architecture, security, FinOps, analytics, and your team to ensure solutions are secure, governed, cost-effective, and enterprise-ready.
- Mentor engineers, establish reusable engineering standards, and provide technical leadership for cloud data platform delivery.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of experience in cloud engineering, data engineering, systems integration, or related technical roles.
- Advanced hands-on experience with Databricks, Spark, PySpark, SQL, and Python for enterprise-scale data transformation and pipeline development.
- Experience designing API ingestion patterns and integrating enterprise, vendor, application, and cloud platform data sources.
- Experience optimising cloud-native solutions within Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Experience with CI/CD, automation, monitoring, and Infrastructure as Code practices.
- English proficiency required, in written and spoken English with technical and your team.
- Technical work in a matrix environment.
Must have skills :
- Experience with Azure services such as Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Storage, Azure Functions, Azure Vault, Azure Monitor, or related services.
- Experience with AWS services such as S3, Lambda, Glue, Athena, RDS, CloudWatch, or related services.
- Experience with Delta Lake, lakehouse architecture, data modelling, and enterprise data governance concepts.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, Git, Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or CloudFormation.
- Experience supporting analytics platforms such as Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, or similar reporting and data usage platforms.
- Understanding of cloud security practices, identity and access management, encryption, secrets management, and compliance requirements.
- Databricks, Microsoft Azure, AWS, or data engineering certifications required.
- Should resolve complex data, integration, or platform issues.
Rockwell Automation’s hybrid policy aligns that employees are expected to work at a Rockwell location at least Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays unless they have a business obligation out of the office.
