Aretum is seeking a Senior Cloud and Technology Modernization SME to provide senior-level expertise in Federal IT modernization, cloud architecture, software engineering, intelligent automation, and digital transformation. This role will support complex technology modernization initiatives focused on improving mission performance, operational efficiency, decision support, and service delivery.
The Senior Cloud and Technology Modernization SME will provide technical leadership, strategic guidance, and solution-oriented recommendations to support secure, scalable, and mission-focused technology solutions. This position will work closely with senior stakeholders, technical teams, and program leadership to help assess modernization opportunities, evaluate technical approaches, and support implementation planning aligned with Government objectives.
Due to the nature of Aretum’s work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information and must adhere to all applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities- Provide senior-level technical expertise in Federal IT modernization, cloud architecture, software engineering, intelligent automation, and digital transformation
- Support the identification and evaluation of technology-enabled approaches that improve mission performance, operational efficiency, decision support, and service delivery
- Advise senior stakeholders by translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Shape scalable, secure, and low-risk technology solutions that align with Government priorities, security expectations, mission needs, and operational requirements
- Lead or advise cloud, platform, application, and solution modernization efforts, including hybrid cloud transformation, software development, and technical strategy
- Support modernization planning, solution assessment, technical demonstrations, and implementation readiness activities
- Apply intelligent automation, AI-enabled capabilities, data analytics, customer experience, and platform development approaches to improve workflows, decision support, and mission outcomes
- Assess technical feasibility, risks, dependencies, security and privacy considerations, and transition approaches associated with modernization initiatives
- Collaborate with Government stakeholders, technical teams, program leadership, and cross-functional partners to support modernization planning and execution
- Provide strategic recommendations that support innovation, operational improvement, and long-term technology transformation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
- Active Project Management Institute Project Management Professional certification
- Fifteen or more years of experience in Federal IT modernization, technology management, software engineering, cloud architecture, digital transformation, or related technical areas
- Ten or more years of experience providing technical leadership for medium or large multi-task projects of high complexity in a Federal environment
- Demonstrated experience leading cloud, platform, application, or solution modernization efforts, including hybrid cloud transformation, software development, and technical strategy
- Experience supporting modernization planning, proof-of-concept development, technical demonstrations, solution assessments, or innovation activities
- Experience applying intelligent automation, AI-enabled capabilities, data analytics, customer experience, and platform development approaches to improve workflows, decision support, and mission outcomes
- Experience assessing technical feasibility, risks, dependencies, security and privacy considerations, and transition approaches associated with modernization initiatives
- Ability to obtain and maintain an appropriate Government security clearance
