Job Description:

Microchip Technology Inc. has a Senior Field Sales Engineer opening reporting to our Detroit area sales office located in Novi, MI.  As a Sr. Field Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for identifying and building new business in Michigan. You will be expected to reframe the client’s thinking and build consensus for Microchip’s solutions, co-creating value by delivering clients the freedom to innovate.

  • Utilize Microchip’s Client Engagement Process to create and drive design wins to revenue at select target clients.
  • Use insight and consultative selling techniques to teach customers about their industry and offer unique perspectives on their business, which link back to Microchip ‘s solutions.
  • Drive the company business relationship with the assigned clients.
  • Identify the key client stakeholders and coach those stakeholders to build consensus for Microchip’s solutions within their organization.
  • Contribute and participate within a global team environment, to successfully develop and implement sales strategies across client’s divisions and geographical locations.
  • Communicate effectively with Microchip business units, providing quantifiable feedback and ROI for their investments in clients.

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business (or equivalent sales experience) with a strong client engagement track record

• 7+ years of semiconductor sales or equivalent technical experience; Experience working with OEMs/Tier 1s is a major advantage

• Proficient in essential competencies including problem-solving, program management, management of major accounts

• Sufficient technical literacy to communicate product value across a portfolio that spans embedded processing, analog, power, and connectivity.

• Skilled at leading annual pricing contracts and negotiation of terms & conditions

• Understand key automotive processes including AECQ100, PPAP, program management, quality, 8D, Functional Safety

• Adept in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Teams, CoPilot and similar AI tools

• Prior Salesforce experience is preferred

• Frequent travel within region for customer facing visits and sporadic visits throughout US for various customer and corporate functions as needed.
