The Infrastructure Applications team is searching for a Citrix Engineering Lead to join our team and help further drive our IT transformation in modernizing and optimizing our IT infrastructure that supports more than 20,000 employees across 70 countries.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to potentially grow into a manger type role, while still having the opportunity to work in an technical hands-on position. Your role will effectively “own” the Citrix infrastructure and be responsible for driving annual projects, supporting escalations (when needed) and work with and mentor our L2/L3 teams.
Position Overview:
As a Citrix Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing our corporate Citrix infrastructure, consisting of 4 separate lines of business environments with over 5,000 users. You will be primarily responsible for managing annual projects, working with our L2/L3 teams to solve problems that impact our users, and keeping our Citrix environments running in optimal condition at all times.
To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to work autonomously, manage priorities and able to be assertive when necessary to get things done. You will engage with other IT teams to support projects, day-to-day support and escalations, ensuring root cause is determined, resolved and documented.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accountable for Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops infrastructure. Including maintenance, patching, tuning, health checks, capacity planning, and overall performance of the virtual desktop systems.
- Act as a subject matter expert for our virtual desktops and published apps environments, including connectivity, authentication, hosting, etc.
- Provide incident response and problem management, including identifying the root cause of system problems and addressing configuration issues that result in operational performance degradation or system outages.
- Develop and maintain documentation for infrastructure processes and configurations
- Serve as an escalation point for Level 2 & 3 support, resolving technical issues such as server/application performance and providing guidance and mentorship to our support team
- Work with key business stakeholders to support upgrading existing and/or deploying new IT solutions based on the needs of the business. Gathering requirements, strong communication and helping to manage bringing together the necessary IT teams in order to ensure successful deployments/upgrades
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred
- 6+ years of experience managing Citrix VDAs and infrastructure.
- 5+ years managing Citrix Cloud environments
- Demonstrated experience managing both MCS and PVS provisioning technologies
- Strong understanding of Active Directory, networking, enterprise storage and hypervisors and how they all tie in together
- Experience with creating automation with PowerShell is a plus!
- 6+ years of experience working across various IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues
- Strong autonomous attitude – someone who understands what needs to be done and goes and gets it done!
- Strong ability to take on new technologies and applications with little to no previous experience, and can work successfully with the vendors and business stakeholders
- Strong English language, verbal and writing
- Previous experience leading a Citrix team is a plus
- Previous experience with documentation and knowledge base article composition
- Industry certifications are a plus!
- Bonus points if you have a strong “generalist” background and have experience wearing many hats in an IT organization!
