The Senior CISCO Network Engineer will support the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. This role is responsible for supporting the agency's network operations, security, and maintenance across a complex local and wide area network infrastructure serving over 30,000 staff members in approximately 100 offices statewide. The Senior CISCO Network Engineer will collaborate with other agency departments and external organizations to deliver secure and effective network solutions. Daily responsibilities include monitoring circuits for anomalies, responding to outages, and maintaining core to remote network equipment. This position supports systems that must remain available with near 100% uptime.
Responsibilities
- Support agency network operations, security, and ongoing maintenance.
- Collaborate with agency departments and external organizations to deliver secure network solutions.
- Respond to remote site circuit outages and resolve router, switch, and firewall issues.
- Configure and monitor core to remote network equipment.
- Monitor circuits daily to identify anomalies that may cause outages.
- Provide network support for programs used across the agency.
- Plan, design, and implement local and wide area networks.
- Perform ongoing maintenance and problem resolution for network infrastructure.
- Implement, upgrade, and maintain products from the Cisco suite of tools.
- Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation as scheduled.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- 8 years of experience supporting large enterprise network operations.
- 8 years of experience implementing, upgrading, and maintaining products from the Cisco suite of tools.
- 8 years of experience planning, designing, and implementing local and wide area networks.
- 8 years of experience monitoring network infrastructure.
- 8 years of experience performing ongoing maintenance and problem resolution.
- Experience using SecureCRT, Cisco Command Line Interface, and OSI.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet all deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- CCNA certification.
- CCDA certification.
- CCNP certification.
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to pass a CJIS background check.
- This is a dedicated position and the Candidate may not hold any other job during the engagement.
- Required to participate in an after-hours on-call rotation approximately every 5 weeks.
- May be required to attend in-person meetings in Austin, TX and/or Huntsville, TX with advance notice.

- Participate in on-call rotations (~every 5 weeks) and provide after-hours support as needed
- Dedicated position; may not hold concurrent employment with any other employer
- Must reside in the state of Texas in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, or San Antonio metropolitan areas
- Able to work on-site in Huntsville, TX for initial 2-4 weeks and attend occasional in-person meetings in Austin or Huntsville
