Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

You’ll lead the capability that creates the conditions for our Change teams to deliver at their best. Bringing together PMO, portfolio data and insight, standards and assurance, and our engagement into other Society change teams, you’ll make sure these specialist areas operate as one joined-up centre of excellence rather than a collection of separate functions.
Your day might involve reviewing portfolio demand and capacity with the PMO Manager, using insight from our data team to support a leadership decision, resolving a barrier to accessing central change capability or considering what assurance findings tell us about where our delivery standards need strengthening. You’ll maintain a broad view across the whole change system, joining the dots between issues and identifying where we can improve how the GCC Change Team operates.
As part of the Change leadership team, you’ll also shape how our operating model evolves. You’ll simplify processes, strengthen governance and capability where it adds value, and ensure leaders have the information and oversight they need via quality reporting. Your focus will be on building an environment where good change delivery is easier: clear priorities, useful insight, proportionate controls and straightforward access to the support teams need.

About you

To be successful in this role, as a minimum, you will need:

  • Extensive experience leading Change, Transformation or Portfolio/PMO teams within a large and complex organisation, with a strong understanding of the disciplines required to support effective enterprise change delivery

  • Demonstrable experience designing, establishing or significantly improving a Change operating model, connecting multi-delivery team portfolio management, governance, data, tooling, standards and delivery practices into an effective end-to-end approach

  • Strong experience of portfolio management, including demand management, prioritisation, resource and capacity planning, portfolio governance and oversight of complex change pipelines across tech and non-tech areas

  • Strong understanding of portfolio data, MI and insight, with experience using data to identify delivery trends, risks and capacity pressures and inform senior-level decisions rather than relying solely on project-level reporting

  • Strong knowledge of change governance, standards, risk and assurance, with experience establishing proportionate controls that provide confidence while enabling, rather than constraining, effective change delivery

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams or capabilities, creating clarity across specialist disciplines and ensuring they operate as an integrated centre of excellence rather than separate support functions

  • Proven ability to identify and address systemic barriers to effective change delivery, simplifying processes, resolving organisational interfaces and improving how change moves from demand through to delivery

  • Experience operating as a senior adviser to Change leadership, bringing together complex portfolio information, organisational context and professional judgement to inform priorities, decisions and interventions

• Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand
• Push for better - We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development
• Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes
You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
