Senior Capability Designer for Business and Technology TransformationsDesign the transformation and be ready to lead it.

Are you driven by clarifying complexity, shaping how organisations operate, and guiding leadership teams through major business and technology transformations?

Do you combine strategic advisory skills with a strong understanding of enterprise design and the judgement needed to turn plans into action?

We are looking for a Senior Capability Designer to join Sofigate’s Business Capability Design team in Helsinki. The role sits at the intersection of management consulting, enterprise architecture, and technology leadership.

We do not expect one person to be equally strong in all three. The strongest candidates will typically bring deep experience and credibility in at least two of these areas, together with enough breadth, curiosity, and judgement to operate effectively across the third.

You might, for example, combine management consulting and enterprise architecture experience with the leadership maturity to step into a transformation leadership role. Or you might bring CIO-level operating experience and architecture depth, together with the consulting skills needed to structure complex problems and advise executive teams.

What matters most is your ability to connect strategy, enterprise design, and execution.

What you will do

A typical engagement may begin by assessing an organisation’s capabilities and technology landscape, clarifying its target state, and creating an actionable transformation roadmap.

But your work does not necessarily stop at the recommendation.

When appropriate, you may continue with the customer into mobilisation and execution — potentially taking on an interim CIO or comparable transformation leadership role to establish direction, governance, priorities, and the organisation needed to make the transformation happen.

In practice, you will:

  • Lead business capability design and transformation assignments from initial diagnosis through roadmap creation and mobilisation.

  • Advise executive teams and boards on business and technology priorities, investments, risks, and trade-offs.

  • Design business and technology operating models, capability structures, governance, decision rights, and organisational responsibilities.

  • Translate strategic objectives into prioritised transformation portfolios and executable roadmaps.

  • Assess whether an organisation has the leadership, capabilities, processes, technology, data, and partners required to achieve its ambitions.

  • Facilitate workshops and decision-making with C-level executives and other senior stakeholders.

  • Create clear recommendations, visual deliverables, business cases, and executive-level decision material.

  • Lead larger, multi-track, and strategically critical customer engagements.

  • Work closely with process experts, enterprise architects, platform specialists, and transformation teams to ensure that designs can be implemented in practice.

  • Collaborate with our AI agents and co-create high-quality output and designs.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for an experienced business and technology transformation professional, who can operate credibly both as a senior advisor and as a practical transformation leader.

You are likely to have:

  • Strong experience in at least two of the following: management consulting, enterprise architecture, and CIO or technology leadership.

  • A proven track record of leading complex business and technology transformation work.

  • Experience working with executive teams and translating business strategy into concrete organisational and technology action.

  • Experience designing operating models, capability structures, governance models, transformation portfolios, enterprise roadmaps, or comparable enterprise-level structures.

  • The ability to create structure, establish priorities, and build momentum in ambiguous situations.

  • A broad understanding of enterprise technology, architecture, digital platforms, data and AI, cybersecurity, sourcing, technology finance, and portfolio governance.

  • Excellent analytical, facilitation, storytelling, and executive communication skills.

  • Sound commercial judgement and experience developing investment cases, prioritisation models, and transformation plans.

  • Full professional fluency in Finnish and English.

Experience from industries such as manufacturing, logistics, financial services, energy, or the public sector is considered an advantage.

You do not need to be the deepest technical specialist in every area. What matters is your ability to understand the bigger picture, challenge assumptions, bring the right specialists together, make priorities visible, and help an organisation move forward.

We value people who are strategic but pragmatic, comfortable taking ownership, curious, collaborative, and able to challenge constructively. You should be able to move naturally between executive-level thinking and practical execution and know when deeper specialist expertise is needed.

What we offer

This is an opportunity to take a senior role in some of our most important business and technology transformation assignments.

You will have:

  • Ownership of high-impact transformation engagements with complex organisations.

  • The opportunity to follow assignments from capability design and strategic planning into mobilisation and execution.

  • Opportunities to take on interim CIO and other executive transformation leadership roles when this best serves the customer.
