At Aston Martin Formula One, innovation is at the heart of everything we do. We are seeking a Senior CAD Process and Development Engineer to play a key role in shaping and enhancing the tools, processes, and workflows that underpin the design and development of our race cars.

This is an exciting opportunity for an engineering professional with a passion for CAD systems, process improvement, and digital transformation to make a significant impact within a high-performance Formula One environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and delivery of the CAD strategy in collaboration with the CAD Process and Development Group team, aligning with near- and long term engineering goals, and working closely with the Head of Engineering Process and Reliability and the PLM team. 
  • Manage client-side CAD activities, including configuration, customisation, implementation, and user support.
  • Identify and drive end-to-end design process improvements to enhance workflow, consistency and productivity. 
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on CAD tools, continuously exploring and deploying new functionalities.
  • Collaborate with the PLM team to prioritise CAD development and enhancement activities that deliver maximum performance impact.
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary working groups focused on improving design systems and methodologies.
  • Work with our Design groups to maintain and update regulatory CAD assemblies. 
  • Build strong relationships with our Design engineers to identify bottlenecks, gather feedback, and develop effective solutions. 
  • Support user acceptance testing for CAD and digital engineering installations and upgrades. 
  • Help deliver training for new starters on CAD tools, ensuring documentation and guidelines are clear, current, and accessible. 
  • Benchmark, evaluate, and implement new tools or processes that add value to design workflows. 

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or a related STEM discipline, or equivalent relevant experience in high-level motorsport design and engineering leadership. 
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in race car design, CAD tools (especially Catia), and engineering design best practices.
  • Proven track record of leading CAD or design tool development programmes within Formula One or high-level motorsport environments.
  • Strong understanding of FIA technical regulations to ensure legality and compliance. 
  • Innovative and open-minded approach to problem-solving, with the ability to challenge current ways of working and implement effective solution
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage complex tasks and projects effectively.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills to engage and motivate teams. 
  • Enthusiastic, motivated, and calm under pressure, with a flexible, results-driven mindset.
  • Willingness to travel as required for the role.

Skills Required
