In the role of IS/HIM Systems Analyst I, the individual supports Revenue Cycle applications and HIM workflows, contributing to the reliable operation of critical healthcare systems while working as a member of the IS/HIS team. This position focuses on incident management, routine application support, and standardized operational activities that ensure the reliable performance of critical healthcare systems.
Acting as a primary point of contact for application-related issues and service requests, the Analyst I will troubleshoot problems, document resolutions, and support users in accordance with established procedures and service standards. Under the guidance of senior analysts, this individual will perform routine system maintenance, monitoring, configuration updates, and testing activities while following defined workflows and technical documentation.
This is an entry-level position designed to build foundational knowledge of healthcare information systems. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, collaborative, and eager to learn, with a solid interest in developing technical and operational expertise while contributing to organizational and patient care objectives.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Key Technical Competencies
- Interpreting large and often complex sets of technical, operational, and clinical information to perform root cause analysis, identify issues, and implement effective resolutions
- Supporting and maintaining multiple healthcare applications simultaneously while ensuring system reliability, user satisfaction, and alignment with organizational objectives
- Troubleshooting application, workflow, and data-related issues across disparate systems that may not be directly integrated
- Analyzing and documenting clinical, financial, and operational workflows to identify opportunities for process improvement and technology optimization
- Evaluating application performance, identifying trends, and proactively addressing potential issues before they impact operations
- Ability to develop proficiency in server administration, including access control, resource management, and infrastructure sizing
- Decipher healthcare interoperability standards, including HL7, FHIR, APIs, and other data exchange methods, to facilitate information sharing across systems
- Recurring & Operational Tasks
- Providing first-level application support by assessing reported issues, gathering relevant information, and escalating complex problems as appropriate
- Conducting routine system monitoring and validation activities to ensure application stability, data integrity, and uninterrupted workflow operations
- Performing application testing activities for system updates and enhancements under the guidance of senior analysts
- Creating, updating, and maintaining departmental documentation and procedures for review and approval by senior analysts
- Supporting user account and access management activities while coordinating with senior analysts on complex security or permission-related requests
- End-User Support & Communication
- Maintain a customer-centric mindset, focusing on effective communication, problem resolution, and positive outcomes in challenging circumstances
- The ability to approach interactions with empathy, professionalism, and respect, while supporting colleagues and stakeholders in delivering high-quality patient care
- Ensuring end users receive timely, accurate, and consistent updates through their preferred communication channels
- Documentation & Process Adherence
- Preparing relevant, well-organized documentation that clearly explains issues, impacts, and recommendations to foster understanding and support
- Follow change management, security, and compliance procedures always
- Adhere strictly to defined workflows, escalation paths, and governance processes
- Team Collaboration
- Work closely with Level Two and senior analysts to support larger initiatives, upgrades, and optimization efforts
- Participate in team meetings, knowledge-sharing activities, and continuous improvement efforts
- Sustain a professional demeanor and positive attitude while effectively adapting to rapidly changing priorities and high-pressure situations
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience using an Electronic Health Record (EHR)
- Experience following standardized procedures, workflows, and support protocols
- Experience in a help desk, application support, or operational IT role within healthcare
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems
- Familiarity with incident management and ticketing systems
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other productivity tools
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot routine application issues and follow escalation processes
- Demonstrated solid attention to detail and documentation skills
- Proven effective verbal and written communication skills
