The Senior Business Systems Analyst role focuses on enterprise file transfer applications and solutions built on the IBM technology stack. The ideal candidate will drive functional requirements definition, solution enhancements, and business process improvements for enterprise file transfer platforms, including modernization initiatives such as customer self-service portals and automated onboarding.Key Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze, and document functional requirements for file transfer solutions and platform enhancements
- Define and prioritize ongoing enhancements, balancing business needs with technical feasibility
- Lead modernization initiatives, including exposing IBM portal functionality for customer self-service and onboarding
- Collaborate with business partners to determine which file transfer capabilities and controls should be exposed to external customers
- Create detailed user stories in Jira with comprehensive acceptance criteria
- Document file transfer parameters, configurations, protocols, and technical specifications
- Develop FRDs, BRDs, use cases, and functional specifications
- Map current- and future-state file transfer workflows and integration points
- Partner with infrastructure, security, and compliance teams on file transfer governance and controls
- Define self-service onboarding workflows, approval processes, and user provisioning requirements
- Analyze monitoring, alerting, and reporting needs for file transfer platforms
- Support vendor evaluation and tool selection for file transfer solutions
- Facilitate requirements workshops with internal and external stakeholders
- Create process flows, data mapping documents, and system interface specifications
- Support UAT planning, test case development, and defect resolution
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for file transfer issues and troubleshooting
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, with at least 3+ years focused on file transfer or data integration solutions
- Strong experience with IBM file transfer tools (IBM MFT, Sterling File Gateway, Connect:Direct, or similar)
- Deep understanding of file transfer protocols: FTP, SFTP, FTPS, AS2, HTTP/HTTPS
- Proven ability to define functional requirements for complex technical platforms
- Experience documenting file transfer configurations, routing rules, and operational parameters
- Proficiency with Jira for user story creation, backlog management, and sprint tracking
- Strong knowledge of file encryption, PGP/GPG, and secure file transfer practices
- Understanding of batch processing, scheduling, and file orchestration
- Experience with API integrations and web services (REST/SOAP)
- Excellent documentation and technical writing skills
- Ability to translate technical concepts for business audiences and business needs for technical teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent stakeholder management across technical and business teams

- Knowledge of IBM DataPower for secure file exchange
- Familiarity with IBM Control Center or similar monitoring/management consoles
- Experience designing customer-facing portals or self-service platforms
- Understanding of EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) and standard file formats (XML, JSON, CSV, fixed-width)
- Knowledge of cloud-based file transfer solutions (AWS Transfer Family, Azure File Transfer)
- Experience with identity and access management (IAM) for external user onboarding
- Understanding of banking regulations related to data transmission and third-party data sharing
- SQL knowledge for querying file transfer logs and metadata
- Experience in Agile/Scrum environments
- Previous work with partner/vendor file integrations
