Business Data & Analytics is a Corporate Shared Service comprised of the existing data and analytics resources in Predictive Analytics, Enterprise Data Management, Enterprise Analytics, Enterprise Telematics, and Business Transformation.

Combining these units into one business technology and business data & analytics organization, provides a clearer line of sight across the P&C division for business decision-making and input to data and analytics investments; while better empowering, enabling and equipping our division-specific analytics teams the ability to outperform their peers.

The Enterprise Analytics team is looking for a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst! Great American’s culture is built on connection, shared learning, and strong relationships. To support this, employees in this role are expected to be on‑site four days a week, with the flexibility to work one day remotely. Core in‑office days are Tuesday–Thursday, with the fourth day determined by business needs.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Analyzes complex business issues and translates business questions, decisions, and terminology into requirements for trusted analytic products that improve decision-making and measurable business outcomes, supported by reusable semantic models and AI-assisted capabilities.

  • Partners with business stakeholders, data owners, analytics professionals, product managers, and cross-functional product teams to define the business concepts, measures, relationships, rules, and requirements that give analytic products consistent meaning across reports, dashboards, and AI-assisted experiences.

  • Designs, develops, tests, and maintains reusable semantic models as core components of analytic products, organizing business entities, measures, relationships, definitions, and access rules for reporting, self-service analytics, and agent-assisted use cases.

  • Creates and maintains the business-friendly metadata, data definitions, lineage, model diagrams, and usage guidance needed for people and AI-enabled tools to interpret and use analytic products consistently.

  • Develops end-user guidance and training that support adoption and effective use of analytic products.

  • Manages the analytic product lifecycle by defining success measures with business partners; monitoring adoption, quality, performance, and business impact; evaluating priority questions, expected answers, failure patterns, and escalation criteria for AI-assisted experiences; and refining products and supporting semantic models as needs, data, and AI capabilities evolve.

  • Advises business stakeholders on analytics and AI-assisted use cases, helping teams frame meaningful questions, interpret results, improve data literacy, and determine when human review is required.

  • Partners with product managers and business leaders to prioritize opportunities, manage dependencies and risks, influence decisions, and communicate product value to executive stakeholders so analytic products are delivered incrementally and achieve intended business outcomes.

  • May have responsibility for performance and coaching of staff and may have a participatory role in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management for direct reports.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.

  • Experience: 4 or more years of advanced experience in business analysis, analytics development, business intelligence, data modeling, product delivery, or a related discipline, with demonstrated success translating complex business needs into analytic products that influence decisions and deliver measurable outcomes. Experience designing or maintaining BI applications, analytic products, or semantic models is required. Practical experience using AI-assisted tools to improve analysis, development, documentation, evaluation, or testing is preferred; machine-learning model development is not required.

  • Scope of Job/Qualifications: Serves as a senior contributor on complex analytic products, combining business judgment, product thinking, and advanced analytics practices to shape priorities and influence senior and executive stakeholders. Translates business and technology knowledge into clear product direction, governed definitions, measures, relationships, rules, and solution guidance. Recommends effective practices and tools for product discovery, business analysis, semantic modeling, AI evaluation, testing, and documentation. May serve as a senior member of an agile product team and provides technical and professional guidance to less experienced team members. Uses AI-assisted tools effectively, validates outputs and failure conditions, protects sensitive information, communicates limitations, and maintains human accountability for business decisions. Demonstrates advanced analytical, communication, facilitation, and executive presentation skills.
