ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a Senior Business Expert role focused on material traceability within H&M Group’s supply chain technology landscape. The role supports a product area that brings together business, data, engineering and external traceability platforms to help H&M strengthen compliance, material integrity, customer-facing claims and sourcing insight.
The person in this role will work across a complex and evolving traceability ecosystem, where different materials and supply chains rely on different internal and external tools. A key part of the role is to understand business needs, connect them to practical traceability solutions, and help ensure that data from multiple platforms can support a clearer and more reliable view of material origin, chain of custody and risk.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
You will turn business requirements into traceability capabilities that can be designed, tested, deployed and continuously improved. This includes working with regulatory, sourcing, sustainability and product priorities while keeping solutions practical for the teams, suppliers and partners who use them.
You will take ownership across the full lifecycle of traceability initiatives, from discovery and requirement gathering through design, implementation, adoption and run. You will help host requirement and user-story discussions, align stakeholders, and translate complex supply chain needs into clear features for product and engineering teams.
You will work with traceability data, supplier interactions, chain-of-custody processes and verification requirements across several material categories, recognizing that cotton, leather, wood, man-made cellulosic, certified materials and other supply chains may each require different approaches.
You will also contribute to external industry engagement where H&M Group participates in discussions on traceability standards, tools and practices. This means being confident enough to represent our perspective in senior forums and to help external partners deliver against shared outcomes.
- Lead and support end-to-end traceability initiatives across apparel materials, all supply chain tiers and finished products
- Map material flows, supplier networks, processing steps and chain-of-custody requirements across complex supply chains
- Drive traceability projects through discovery, design, implementation, adoption and continuous improvement
- Strengthen traceability data quality, supplier documentation, verification controls and audit readiness
- Identify traceability risks, gaps and opportunities across tools, processes, data and partner networks, and drive corrective actions
- Identify, ideate and drive innovation initiatives (such as physical tracers and Ai capabilities)
- Provide clear updates, insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders and leadership
WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
You will be part of the material traceability product area, working closely with product, engineering, data analyst, sustainability data and compliance colleagues. The role partners with another senior business expert in the team and collaborates with engineers and analysts to connect business priorities with product delivery.
Externally, you will work with traceability platform providers, industry bodies, suppliers and other partners across the production supply chain. These relationships are central to the role, as many traceability tools and processes are used outside H&M by suppliers and upstream partners.
The team works across locations and time zones, with a strong center of gravity in Bangalore as well as collaboration with colleagues in Stockholm and other markets. Success in this role requires clear communication, proactive alignment and the ability to build trust across both internal and external networks.
