The USC Finance Division Office of Budget and Planning is seeking a Senior Business Data Analyst to join its team.
THE WORK YOU WILL DO
The Senior Business Data Analyst is responsible for performing data analyses and assists in interpretation of results using a variety of techniques to support business practices. The selected candidate will work with management to obtain and identify analytical requirements. Provide recommendations and conclusions gained from analyzing data using statistical methods and tools. Research best practices, develop benchmarks, and provide dashboard metrics to management leadership. Develop a variety of reporting tools for distribution. Ensure data accuracy. Provide input into decisions affecting business operations and strategic initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible in analyzing data, communicate findings, and sharing data recommendations with stakeholders to guide business strategies.
- Prepare, data cleansing, and working with complex data sets to ensure data quality and integrity.
- Collecting data, performing statistical analysis, producing reports, and collaborating with stakeholders on final output.
- Designing and maintaining data base.
- Develop, write, refine and test code and scripts to ensure the proper functionality of software applications.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3 years; combined experience/education as substitute for minimum work experience.
- Experienced with Info Basic, Universe, and UNIX.
- Direct knowledge and experience in data modeling, data warehousing and reporting.
- Project management experience for complex projects.
- Demonstrated organizational, critical thinking, interpersonal, planning, problem solving, and business analytical skills.
- Able to work at a high functional and technical level.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following: Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Science, Management Science or in related field(s).
- 5 years; combined experience/education as substitute for minimum work experience.
- Expert knowledge of Data Warehousing methods (e.g., Kimball) and Relational and Analytical data structures (e.g., RDBMS, OLAP).
- Impressive experience in designing managerial level presentations and reports.
- Outstanding skills in finding resolution to complicated problems while performing independently in a multifaceted environment.

The annual base salary for this position is $102,869.31.
