Job DescriptionThe Senior Business Analyst will play a critical role in strengthening operational consistency, control, and insight across a multi‑site, multi‑service professional services firm. The role focuses on designing proportionate, compliance‑by‑design processes; enabling technology‑led change; and improving the quality, consistency, and usability of management information.
Working closely with Operations, IT, Compliance, and Project teams, the Senior Business Analyst will translate complex business requirements into clear, well‑documented processes, operating models, and data frameworks that support standardisation, efficiency, and scalable growth across both regulated and non‑regulated service lines.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, document, and refine compliance and control processes by service line or operational pillar, ensuring controls are proportionate, risk‑based, and embedded into day‑to‑day workflows.
- Work collaboratively with IT, Operations, Compliance, and Project Teams to capture and translate business requirements for technology and transformation initiatives, including:
- Document Management Systems (DMS)
- Paperless and workflow automation solutions
- AI‑enabled tools and process enhancements
- Produce end‑to‑end process maps by service area or pillar, identifying opportunities to improve standardisation, efficiency, data capture, and cross‑office interoperability.
- Support Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) integration activity by identifying, analysing, and documenting differences between operating models, processes, controls, and systems (note: not responsible for delivery of integration).
- Develop and document operating models, service frameworks, and governance structures that support effective performance management and scalable delivery.
- Define leading and lagging performance indicators, working with stakeholders to identify the data required to generate meaningful, actionable management information.
- Improve the clarity, consistency, and quality of business analysis documentation, including process maps, requirements specifications, impact assessments, and control frameworks.
- Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, challenging existing practices constructively and ensuring proposed solutions are pragmatic, compliant, and aligned to business objectives.
- Contribute to the continual improvement of business analysis standards, methods, and ways of working across the organisation.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Advanced business analysis and requirements engineering skills, with the ability to simplify complex problems and design scalable solutions.
- Strong process mapping and service design capability, with experience creating end‑to‑end, cross‑functional views.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, able to work credibly with senior operational, technical, and compliance stakeholders.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to define meaningful KPIs, MI, and data requirements.
- High standard of written documentation, with attention to structure, clarity, and auditability.
- Confident influencing and facilitation skills, including workshops, process design sessions, and requirements reviews.
- Pragmatic, delivery‑focused approach balanced with an appreciation of regulatory and operational risk.
- Comfortable working across multiple service lines, locations, and concurrent initiatives.
Knowledge & Experience
- Significant experience as a Senior Business Analyst (or equivalent) within a professional services, financial services, or other regulated or complex operational environment.
- Demonstrable experience designing or improving compliance‑by‑design processes and embedding controls into operational workflows.
- Strong background in technology‑enabled change, including workflow automation, document management, or data‑driven initiatives.
- Experience supporting M&A or integration‑related analysis, including operating model comparison and gap assessment.
- Proven track record of working in multi‑site or matrixed organisations, balancing local service needs with firm‑wide standardisation.
- Exposure to regulated and non‑regulated services within the same organisational context is highly desirable.
- Degree‑level qualification or equivalent professional experience.
- Formal training or certification in business analysis (e.g. BCS, IIBA/CBAP, PMI‑PBA).
- Project or change management qualifications (e.g. PRINCE2, Agile, Lean, Six Sigma) desirable.
- Regulatory, risk, or compliance‑related qualifications or training advantageous.
Additional Information
- The role operates across a multi‑site, multi‑service organisation and requires flexibility to engage with teams in different offices and service lines.
- Some travel between UK and overseas offices will be required.
- The position offers exposure to firm‑wide transformation initiatives spanning operations, technology, compliance, and data.
- This is a hands‑on senior role with scope to shape standards, influence design decisions, and materially improve operational effectiveness.
