Smith+Nephew is advancing its financial data capabilities through a modern cloud-based data platform, enabling enhanced reporting, forecasting, and decision support. We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst to support Finance by delivering high-quality analytics and insights. This role will partner closely with Finance stakeholders and Data Translators to support financial planning, reporting, and performance management initiatives.
What will you be doing?
  • Strategy (15%): Align financial analytics with enterprise priorities such as cost optimization, profitability, forecasting accuracy and global spend. Support Finance transformation initiatives through data-led insights. Contribute to finance data roadmap aligned with enterprise AI and analytics goals.
  • Design (15%): Translate financial reporting and planning requirements into data models and dashboards. Collaborate with finance SMEs and data teams to ensure alignment of reporting definitions and metrics. Enhance financial reporting capabilities through automation and improved data structures.
  • Execute & Govern (50%): Ensure integrity and reconciliation of financial data across systems. Support and enhance Finance analytics products. Perform deep-dive data analysis using SQL and analytics techniques to uncover trends in Revenue, General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other Finance and Procurement related products. Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes. Work within Agile frameworks to deliver incremental data capabilities. Support governance of finance data assets, ensuring compliance and audit readiness. Validate data requirements and support UAT, ensuring business alignment and quality outcomes.
  • Communicate & Train (20%): Present financial insights to stakeholders, highlighting risks, opportunities, and trends. Develop user documentation and reporting standards. Support training on financial dashboards and analytics tools.
What will you need to be successful?
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, or related discipline
  • Experience: 5-8 years of experience in financial data analysis or business analytics. Strong understanding of financial processes (FP&A, reporting, consolidation). Experience with ERP systems and data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, SAP).
  • Competences: Financial Acumen, Data Integrity Focus, Analytical Thinking, Communication, Governance & Compliance, Continuous Improvement, Cross-Functional Collaboration.
