About the Role

We are looking for an exceptional Senior Boot ROM Engineer with a strong background in security to join our core silicon development team. The successful candidate will architect, develop, and validate secure Boot ROM firmware, playing a pivotal role in safeguarding our next-generation embedded platforms. You will work closely with hardware, software, and security teams to implement robust boot processes, integrate advanced cryptographic technologies, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and validate secure Boot ROM firmware for embedded systems and SoCs.

  • Develop and maintain secure boot flows, including post-quantum cryptography (PQC) integration.

  • Conduct detailed threat modeling and risk assessments for boot and initialization stages.

  • Implement and support attestation mechanisms to verify platform integrity.

  • Ensure Boot ROM firmware meets FIPS and other industry security certifications.

  • Collaborate with hardware and security teams to define and integrate hardware-based security features.

  • Participate in code reviews, security audits, and documentation.

  • Support silicon bring-up, debugging, and secure firmware updates.

The pay range below is for Bay Area California only. Actual salary may vary based on a number of factors including job location, job-related knowledge, skills, experiences, trainings, etc. We also offer incentive opportunities that reward employees based on individual and company performance.  

 

$149.1K - $215.9K USD 

 

We use artificial intelligence to screen, assess, or select applicants for the position. Applicants must be eligible for any required U.S. export authorizations. 

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of experience in embedded firmware or Boot ROM development, with a strong focus on security.

  • Deep knowledge of cryptographic algorithms and protocols, including post-quantum cryptography (PQC).

  • Experience with threat modeling, attestation protocols, and secure boot processes.

  • Familiarity with FIPS certification and related compliance requirements.

  • Proficiency in C, assembly language, and secure coding best practices.

  • Experience with RISC-V, ARM, or similar architectures.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Bonus Skills

  • Background in hardware/software co-design for security.

  • Hands on experience with Simulation, Emulation and SIMICS platforms

  • Background in silicon validation or hardware security assessment.

  • Knowledge of Post Quantum Cryptographic Algorithms, secure key provisioning and manufacturing flows.
