Credence has an immediate need for a Senior Biomedical AI Engineer to develop cutting-edge AI solutions that drive real-world impact across federal programs, including those in the biomedical and healthcare space. In this role, you will leverage your experience making data AI-ready and designing, developing, and implementing AI models and deep learning algorithms to support biomedical research and other programmatic areas. This position is ideal for an engineer ready to deepen their expertise in AI/ML, data science, and research.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the duties listed below:
- Build custom deep learning models and pipelines for federal government projects, with focus on the biomedical and healthcare space.
- Develop multimodal AI algorithms using the following data types: medical imaging data, electronic health records (EHR) data, and multiomics data.
- Conduct data preparation, feature engineering, deep learning architecture design, training, and optimization to ensure optimal performance from the AI models.
- Design and implement AI solutions using the latest deep learning architectures, generative AI technologies, and foundation models / large-language models (LLMs).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams of data scientists, software engineers, program managers, and client stakeholders to understand, evaluate, and deliver AI solutions that meet project requirements.
- Stay updated on AI and ML trends and write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following industry standards
- Contribute to the technical writing of AI/ML-related proposals, white papers, and scientific publications
- Lead and cultivate strong client partnerships, guiding the integration of state-of-the-art AI/ML, automation, and data analytics solutions tailored to the unique needs of the federal sector
Requirements
- PhD. (preferred) or M.S. in an engineering, scientific, or health-related field
- Minimum 3 years relevant work experience (PhD.) or 7 years relevant work experience (M.S.)
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing state-of-the-art deep learning architectures and ensemble models (e.g., using transformers, autoencoders, convolutional neural networks etc.)
- Experience implementing multimodal AI with at least 2 (preferably 3) of the following data types: medical imaging data, EHR data, multiomics data, and wearable device data. This includes making data AI-ready through standardization and transformation.
- Understanding of data types, standards, and data models used for medical imaging, EHR, multiomics, and wearable device data
- Successful track record of performing AI/ML research and development in the biomedical/healthcare space, as evidenced through publications and/or other relevant outcomes
- Strong knowledge of AI/ML techniques including natural language processing (NLP), supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement, and transfer learning, with expertise in Python, AI/ML and key libraries
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- An eagerness to continually expand technical knowledge and expertise
