Position Overview

Murphy Geospatial are expanding our in-house BIM team and are looking for a Senior BIM Coordinator to join our Digital Engineering team.

The primary focus of this role is to lead BIM projects and production teams, ensuring successful technical delivery from project handover through to completion.

As a senior member of the team, the successful candidate will also have wider responsibilities across BIM quality, audits, technical issues and delivery risks, while supporting the BIM Operations Manager with the technical and operational oversight of the team when required.

The successful candidate will be based primarily from our North London Watford office, with the opportunity for hybrid working, and will report directly to the BIM Operations Manager.

What You Will Do

  • Act as the technical lead for assigned BIM projects, including complex and technically challenging projects, ensuring delivery in line with the agreed scope, programme, client requirements and quality standards.
  • Review project requirements and BIM Checklists, identify missing information and technical risks, and prepare project documentation, including SurveyBEPs and EIRs.
  • Lead and coordinate production teams, providing clear technical instructions and ensuring project requirements, scope and delivery expectations are understood.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, survey teams and the BIM Operations Manager to plan projects, monitor progress and identify potential delays, quality issues, scope changes and additional work.
  • Advise on appropriate modelling workflows and production methods based on project requirements and available survey data.
  • Review and validate project deliverables to ensure compliance with the agreed scope, BIM Checklist, SurveyBEP, EIR, client requirements and internal quality standards.
  • Act as a senior technical escalation point for BIM Coordinators, BIM Technicians and production teams, providing guidance on complex technical and project delivery issues.
  • Mentor and support BIM Coordinators and BIM Technicians, promoting best practices and consistent delivery standards.
  • Take ownership of monitoring recurring BIM quality, survey data and point cloud issues, ensuring actions are tracked and significant risks are escalated to the BIM Operations Manager.
  • Coordinate BIM audit preparation, track identified actions and support the implementation of required improvements across the team.
  • Support the BIM Operations Manager with wider technical and operational responsibilities and provide appropriate cover when required.
  • Attend and, where required, lead project handovers, technical reviews, client meetings and kick-off meetings.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of BIM workflows, standards, technologies and production methods.

What You Will Bring

  • Significant experience delivering and coordinating Scan-to-BIM projects within the surveying, construction, engineering or AEC sectors.
  • Advanced knowledge and practical experience using Autodesk Revit for Scan-to-BIM production and project delivery.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, point cloud data and Scan-to-BIM workflows.
  • Strong understanding of building construction principles, BIM information management and relevant industry standards, including ISO 19650.
  • Proven experience leading BIM projects and production teams.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance processes and experience reviewing technical scopes and BIM deliverables.
  • Experience mentoring and developing BIM Coordinators and BIM Technicians.
  • Experience using Autodesk Construction Cloud and BIM 360.
  • Full rights to work in the UK

Key Attributes

  • Ability to take technical ownership of complex projects, manage priorities and identify risks before they impact project delivery.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills and the confidence to make decisions and act as an escalation point for other team members.
  • Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively with Project Managers, surveyors, production teams and clients.
  • A proactive, organised and detail-focused approach, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
