Job Description:

Joining our Russell Investments Global Finance Department means you will be a part of a passionate and supportive team that believes what we do matters to our clients and investors.  We rely on meticulous billing records to ensure clients are invoiced timely and accurately. In this role, you will support the Global Accounting team by preparing client statements (invoicing, rebate processing, client maintenance), facilitating timely cash collection and rebate processing, in addition to assisting with finance projects as they occur, and assisting with internal and external audit requests. You will have both a day-to-day and ongoing impact on financial transactions, keeping us on track, on time, and on good terms with our valued clients.

 A key component of the Global Accounting team is continued focus on analyzing all functions for process improvement, service enhancement, quality, and efficiency. A successful candidate will be highly motivated and will have the ability to adapt to a transforming work environment while continuing to manage multiple requests with competing deadlines. This candidate will need to be extremely detail-oriented, work quickly and efficiently, as well as conduct business in a professional and organized manner. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of revenue streams and service offerings, client fee arrangements, and transaction flows to ensure accurate billing and revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Perform complex client setups, and maintenance activities within the billing platform, ensuring contractual terms are accurately configured.
  • Interpret and implement client fee agreements, including customized and non-standard billing arrangements.
  • Review client configurations to ensure billing accuracy and alignment with contractual obligations and revenue recognition requirements.
  • Prepare and/or review client invoices and statements ensuring the utmost accuracy.   
  • Ensure client rebates are calculated, approved, and processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Operations, and Business teams to resolve client fee discrepancies and facilitate the implementation of new client agreements and billing arrangements.
  • Review aged receivables and reach out to clients professionally to reduce aged invoices
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close activities through account analysis, reconciliations, and revenue-related reporting.
  • Analyze revenue and billing data to identify trends, discrepancies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives focused on automation, standardization, controls, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Participate in system enhancements, testing activities, and implementation of new billing functionality.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and audit requirements.
  • Provide support for internal and external audits, including preparation and review of key documentation.
  • Exercise the highest level of integrity and confidentiality when handling client and financial information.
  • Ensure billing and client setup activities are performed in accordance with established SOPs and contribute to continuous improvement of process documentation.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 4 – 7 years of professional experience in billing operations, revenue accounting, financial operations, or related finance functions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles and their practical application within billing and accounting processes.
  • Experience interpreting and operationalizing complex client fee agreements and contractual billing terms.
  • Experience with billing system administration and client configuration; Broadridge Revport experience strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge  of US GAAP and financial controls.
  • Familiarity with multi-currency transactions and global business operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of Asset Management industry products, terminology, and fee structures is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
