Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior Bid Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Brisbane, Australia.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure the preparation of strategic bids that comply with established bidding processes

  • Ensure the alignment with sales targets and the implementation of company policies/guidelines for the definition and preparation of all financial/commercial aspects of the assigned bids

  • Ensure the implementation of the assigned bid strategy

  • Ensure all bidding risks are identified and consolidated according to the risk management procedure

  • Ensure the continuous update of associated systems and databases for the assigned bids

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives relating to bidding tools and processes

  • Support the Sales Manager in the definition of the bid preparation strategy

  • Provide the Project Manager with comprehensive winning bid information/collateral to support project delivery

Skills & Experience:

  • Engineering Degree or equivalent technical/project management experience

  • 7+ years’ experience in a similar role; complex/high value bids

  • Relevant market and technical knowledge

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of pricing, costing, and commercial contracts

  • Financially literate

  • Well-honed negotiation skills

  • Highly developed stakeholder management skills

  • Excellent communicator with an ability to positively influence outcomes

  • Knowledge of software tools and technical systems

  • Outstanding planning and organisational skills

  • Ability to succeed in a fast paced, complex, culturally diverse environment
