MicroStrategy Developer (BI Engineer)

Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Senior BI Engineer with strong Oracle and PostgreSQL database expertise and advanced SQL skills to design, develop, and maintain enterprise BI solutions. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience with MicroStrategy Workstation, along with exposure to modern BI tools such as AWS QuickSight and/or Power BI. This role will also leverage AI/GenAI tools to help automate report generation, documentation, and data analysis workflows, and support natural language query (NLQ) capabilities for BI dashboards to improve self-service analytics. Experience with Snowflake is a plus.
Requirements:
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Federal Position of Trust clearance designation.
- Must reside in and be able to perform work in the United States.
- Must have lived in the United States for 3 of the last 5 years.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, technology, data science, statistics, analytics, or related quantitative and software development field.
- Candidate is required to travel to our Baltimore office once a week (Tuesday).
- 5+ years of MicroStrategy development experience, including MicroStrategy Workstation.
- Strong hands-on experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
- Advanced SQL skills, including performance tuning and query optimization.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling.
- Experience with BI/visualization tools such as AWS QuickSight, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, etc.) for data analysis and productivity.
- Must show appetite for active learning, embracing change and mentoring others in organization.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and deploy MicroStrategy reports, dashboards, and schema objects using MicroStrategy Workstation.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries across Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
- Build and manage MicroStrategy metadata (attributes, facts, hierarchies, transformations).
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into BI solutions.
- Optimize reports, dashboards, and queries for performance and scalability.
- Integrate MicroStrategy with Oracle, PostgreSQL, and other data sources.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data and reporting issues.
- Maintain documentation for BI solutions and data models.
- Leverage AI/GenAI tools to automate report generation, documentation, and data analysis workflows.
- Build or integrate natural language query (NLQ) capabilities for BI dashboards (e.g., “ask your data” features).
