About the role
As a Data Lead for Business Intelligence, you will act as both a technical owner and scope manager, responsible for maintaining and evolving the suite of BI reports and data pipelines that power Essor’s operations. This is a hybrid role at the intersection of engineering, product, and business, requiring not only technical expertise but also the ability to connect the dots between tools, processes, and strategy.
You will work with datasets in Snowflake through Airflow and maintain and upgrade data analytics flows. Much of the current ecosystem is spreadsheet-driven and process-heavy - you’ll bring clarity, build data products, and establish robust pipelines that support Amazon / Netsuite API data and internal tools, all developed fully in-house.
This role requires someone who can balance hands-on engineering (queries, transformations, Python scripting) with strategic thinking (understanding business needs, optimizing tech stack, proposing simplifications). You’ll collaborate with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders, ensuring the stability, efficiency, and scalability of our business analytics data ecosystem.
What you will do:
- Maintain, improve, and simplify the suite of BI tools that manage the daily monitoring of the company’s performance.
- Redesign and optimize data flows in Snowflake and Airflow, reducing technical debt and ensuring scalability.
- Act as scope manager and oversee interdependencies between BI tools and Amazon integrations, ensuring stability and clarity across systems.
- Bridge tech & business by translating business requirements into technical solutions and explain data logic to non-technical stakeholders.
- Write efficient SQL queries, develop Python scripts, and manipulate datasets to deliver data products and reporting.
- Partner with analysts, engineers and business leaders to align priorities and deliver solutions with measurable impact.
- Ensure Data Integrity: Define acceptance criteria, implement validation checks, and guarantee that BI data products are reliable.
- Provide light mentorship to engineers and analysts, sharing expertise in SQL, Python, and data product development.
Who you are
- Master’s degree (Engineering, Business or similar field)
- From 4 to 5 years of experience in the Data Engineering domain
- You are passionate about data optimization applying the latest methodologies to increase performance and reduce computing costs.
- Mastery in writing SQL queries, transforming, and modeling data.
- Strong proficiency in Python is needed
- Knowledge of Airflow and orchestration tools (deep expertise not required).
- Able to understand e-commerce operations and bring strategic insights to simplify and connect tools.
- Comfortable being both a data engineer and a scope/product manager—technical and business-savvy.
- High level of organization, impeccable attention to detail, capacity to figure out complex problems without a lot of oversight
- Fluent in English, clear in both written and verbal communication, able to explain complex topics simply
